I'm about -4.25 in both eyes, and also have astigmatism. I'm picking up the new prescription on Friday and I'll give it a bit longer to see how I get on, but it's also not been great going back to my old glasses either!

It takes a while for the brain to adjust to the incoming feed. Sorry you have had headaches Dan, never good. I was -7 astigmatism and tbh my eyes have been bad forever. Evening of day 4.5(so beginning day 5) and my brain is literally broadcasting the incoming stream from my augmented right eye, crystal clear with only a slight blurriness in the extreme left of image screened to say my left eye is still a pup. If anyone wants details on the clinic/surgeon/costs pm me.

When did you get your's done?
20 years ago. Had Lasik in my right eye and PRK in the left, due to some issues with thin corneas. My left eye is still pin sharp while the right eye started dropping a little a few years ago and I wear a 1.25 contact lens in that one. Still need reading glasses but generally it's been like being reborn. I do notice the specular highlights at night looking at lights but I'm happy to live with that for the results I got.

I have a little of the light halo too at night. Apparently it will fade. An insignificant price to pay. Its basically miracle going from -7 to this!. :D

Dan, would you not entertain lens replacement?

I caved in over lockdown, as part of the "can still go to appointments" clause, the nearest opticians we could get was Costco Milton Keynes in early 2021,(needs must) all 3 of us were overdue & nobody local was really operating a functioning service.

I went to try & help my overall dizziness (eyes not really changed much apparently over 20 years, so problems elsewhere it seems, but I tried a pair of varifocals regardless, ...I was falling over & lots of near misses more than usual, despite meds to help, had to give up as I really didn't want yet another concussion.

After a fortnight of persistence (& profuse swearing) I accepted defeat& went back to regular specs, too brain pattern much adjustment required.

Back to not wanting to wear any specs now as a result unless they are prizm sense sunglasses which give me a lot of clarity & keep the headaches at bay, which begs the question as to recent lenses with less optometrist tinkering!?

(Prizm Oakley specialist lenses are the razor sharp lens choice for snow definition & a whole lot more, this my daily go to, they are a great investment on a flat light / whiteout day that pay dividends keeping you upright, ..not surprisingly they soon implemented it into sunglasses too, would recommend anyone tests the clarity offered for themselves)
