Nice one. Was it a job lot or just accrued over time?2x smart plugs? I’ve just counted 21…
Have to confess to a few mech timers as well The two smart plugs I have are in the loft metering supply to ashp's and are great, however they do not record the number of hours the pumps are operating which would be really useful to know. Unfortunately I haven't yet found any that will cover this aspect!
Re: Year end figures, where are you and what is your plan?
I'm looking at putting in another network as I've run out of IP addresses!

A mere 10 Hive plugs here and a switchbot might get another couple of Hive plugs to keep up.

Re: Year end figures, where are you and what is your plan?
You get those inline 3 pin meters. If you know your pump load which will display when pump runs, just got to know the time window and divide. That will give you the running hours in the window?Adokforme wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 10:38 amNice one. Was it a job lot or just accrued over time?2x smart plugs? I’ve just counted 21…

Just built up over time. Used to have a few digital/mechanical timers. But smartplugs are better in every way. When I say "Alexa bedtime" it does something like 11 things!Adokforme wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 10:38 amNice one. Was it a job lot or just accrued over time?2x smart plugs? I’ve just counted 21…

Mine are TP-link, they measure hours running and some fo them record power used too, but they display the information in a way that isn't particularly helpful...
I thought I had an unreasonable number of devices! If you have more than 128 you're somewhat ahead of me!

Re: Year end figures, where are you and what is your plan?
For someone that frequents this forum, I've precious little 'installed' to show for it. Sigh. One thing I will do in the next day or so is sign up to offset three times my family's emissions.
Why triple offset? Well:
1. We'll struggle to cut the emissions much more in the short term (and even if we did, we're never going to have a zero carbon footprint, so will probably always carbon offset).
2. It's cheap. Triple offsetting our emissions will cost us the princely sum of £36 per month (for which reason we might up it to five times). We're lucky enough to be able to afford that.
3. It will go some way to addressing criticisms of offsetting, such that a. It might not offset as much as claimed/calculated, and b. You emit now, but the offetting actions might only come through with a big lag.
4. It will go some way to addressing our family's -historic- emissions (all those flights I took as a young man... Shudder).
5. It will offset the emissions of others a bit.
We'll continue to try to 'walk the walk', but I think this is a good thing to do in addition. We'll focus on tree-planting, solar farm builds in developing countries and the like.

Re: Year end figures, where are you and what is your plan?
Think max is about 254. I assign a static IP to everything, even if not on all the time. What with CCTV, DVD,TV, computers, laptops, Alexa and IOT inc. smart plugs and external flood lights you soon run out. I think I will put all the CCTV cameras on a separate network as they are barred from access to the internet by the router anyway.

Sorry it is 256 not 128 devices assuming a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.Tinbum wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 12:22 pmThink max is about 254. Why not put the CCTV cameras on a different subnet?

Not sure how to do that but will soon learn how to!
