I think Cosy will be the end target for the MiL but to get her off the standard cap tariff ASAP I will move them to agile. I dont see the cheap period vary much in terms of time (1am till 4:30am) price wise it will generally be cheaper than the rest of the day so the charge time can stay the same and fill the batteries ready to bridge the tea time peak tariff period (3:30 to 8:30pm) The rest of the time its less than 25.3p per unit so they are "winning" so to speak.
Next job is to splash the cash for a solis data log stick (not bright enough to do a Mr Pablo alternative) and get that connected so that I can sit and change stuff without going next door and disturbing the parents in law.
I will also get the ball rolling for export - wont need it till next spring.
Wondering if they would benefit from a ASHP or A2A or just a small smart HWC given their apparently tiny heat footprint - similar to ours taken at face value although I have yet to do their heat loss calculations.
Last few days have been cold and sunny here so good solar and today they have only used 0.3kWh from the grid despite MiL ironing, hoovering, cooking and the FiL watch war documentaries on the TV, and the battery stack 7kW is at 96%.
Conversely here with the West facing panels we have used 0.4kWh but the 14kW stack is only up to 58% from a low of 28% this morning, my wife has hoovered, washed a load and done the tumble drying plus cooked dinner ready for later.

Have you looked at Eon Drive tarriff...
All they seem to "ask" is for you to tick a box to say yes you have an EV.
My recent quote, as ive been looking into this too.
Chomping at the bit for my remedial work to be done so i can make the most of this.
Unless someone wants to earn a few quid by lending their EV out for a charge so that octopus go can be sanctioned.
2.7kw Canadian solar. roof. 3kw solis G98 mcs
12kw midea ASHP
200l hot water
3152W RE, Whitelaw Brae
Octopus agile/outgoing fixed 15p
Planned;
Hybrid system
43kwh eve batteries, 3x16 280A
6-8+kw solar, DC connected.

Re: Octopus tariffs for pensioners, which one?
A while back in a weak moment I actually asked my supplier EoN to come and fit a smart meter so that I could take them up on their EV tariff. On the day the fitter can and looked at the meter cupboard and then announced he wouldn’t be able to foot the meter as there wasn’t enough space on the back board and he didn’t think his supervisors would allow him extra time to fit an extra piece of back board. He asked and they didn’t.
I’ve had quite a bit of poor service from EoN, since being switched to them when bulb fell over, and the last straw was when their standing charge came in 2p a day more expensive than the tentacled one.
The MiL was with bulb like us but was switched to octopus and has had good service and that extended to the lady who came to install their smart meter who went above and beyond to explain it all to them and ask a multitude of questions. Off the back of that and their general experience I hit the switch button last Friday and then it’s time for me to join the smart meter revolution too after which it’s IOG once the contractor is assigned to install an EV charger for us - that’s Mondays phone call.
So long story short and based simply on my experience I wouldn’t be in a rush to give EoN my custom in the future unless they somehow manage to turn a saw ear into the proverbial silk purse.
Thanks for the thought though.
