I suspose what i am asking is what the wires marked + S - do ?
Is the S a common and + - NC contacts?
I should really disconnect and bleep them but never thought of that at the time . :?

But unless someone is familiar with either the controller or the actuator, they probably can't say what the connections are. If it is just two limit switches then i would expect it to be East, Common, West (NC contact between - and S, and NC contact between + and S) but your description of a complex pcb suggests something more sophisticated such as +ve supply, Signal, -ve supply, where the S contact might be pulses or a voltage to give position/motion feedback.

The sound of a click at the end of travel would suggest a limit switch is operating, but then i don't know what is inside the actuator: the limit switches might connect into the motor wires and the +,S,- might not connect to them at all, and just give position feedback (although i assume you would have said if the limit switch pcb connected to the motor wires).

If you still have the manual i don't suppose that has an informative schematic of connection in it?

I seem to remember that Clockman uses Lorenz trackers, in France. He’ll undoubtedly know a lot about them.

If you're about clockman would appreciate your input......
However a chinese controller and 2 limit switches is starting to look the least hassle solution .......
