It typical, I had a relay fitted a few years ago so I can switch to a generator for lights and water in the house. Fitted for but not with. I was in Farnborough during the storm and arrived back too late to rent/buy a generator.

I phoned a few places before I got one, the smaller generators were all out on hire so I ended up with a 6kW diesel unit that need a trailer to get it home, good though pretty quiet and not too heavy on the diesel.

A wee update, The extended cooking surface is working well. Sausage casserole, tatties and peas. The fourth spot is taken up by the kettle. Much more aware of kettle fills now compared to the electric kettle. We fill this one six to eight times per day.

One more wrinkle with the extra space. We now have enough room to try a 2 tin oven for cooking Yorkshire puddings, oh yes! :twisted:

Interesting point. I wonder at what temperature warming becomes cooking. :? Currently ay 175 degs.
