Just realised I have not posted anything about my Tesla TM3 for over a year, doesn't time fly. Its still running like new, I've just done a return trip to my folks 250 miles each way and I arrived there with 16% from full and today I arrived back with 16% from full. Solar charged for the trip up to my folks 8-), and for the journey back, charged on the granny cable from my fathers share of Ripple GF ;). Should also be fully solar charged back again by the weekend.
16.9kW PV > 107MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 22MWh generated
5 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 510 m3

Sounds good - If you made the same trip over winter, would you have to charge mid-way, or is the battery not too affected by the cold?

I have done the trip in winter non stop but I had to keep max speed down to around 65MPH and arrived with under 5% which was a bit nerve racking. So generally in winter I do a 10 min stop to charge and not worry about the speed.

I just noticed that the energy App in the TM3 has been improved, it shows me I was extra heavy footed for the last quarter of the journey. It does quite not show the whole journey as I had a quick relief stop fairly early on.

I don't usually bother checking it as its so cheap (compared with FF). For 99%+ its either free solar or free plugged in at my folks or 7.5p / kWh on the Intelligent Octopus which is in effect free to me as more than paid for by Ripple credits. The £8 M6 bypass toll never used to bother me with my old diesel, but now it does.

But for the long fast motorway drive its around 4 miles / kWh. Local leisurely driving is nearer to 5 miles / kWh.

Thanks, gives me a yardstick measure, we generally manage to charge on free solar via the granny socket - as today - and just use the 50kW + charging network when out for longer distances, we haven't driven anywhere yet and dropped below 30% before a cheeky top though. Not enough confidence in us or the car yet to do that :?

I find driving at 60-65mph and the range is fairly accurate. At 70 mph I wouldn’t get the estimated range on the car journey.
Never seen the energy app on the screen, is it in the apps or do you have to download it?

Its in the Apps in the car, its been updated relatively recently. The car now takes into account elevation changes and wind speed / direction on the navigated journey for its range projection.

Todays job was EV tyre rotation on my Tesla M3 LR, I've been putting it off for months.

Its a bit weird jacking up an EV, the car is so stiff because of the battery that both wheels on the side of the car you raise come off the ground. But that makes it easier to get an axel stand under the other jacking point. :D

Anyway simple enough job, made me think of a time as a child helping my dad change his tyres on a Morris Marina. 8-)
