Talking of badges, I've noticed some new ones on my ripple account.
An offshore one would be nice.

It needs more thought & programmed measured planning (as that's what computers are for)

If a company is, having put WT's up wanting to fence in a lot of FUGLY containers with perceived chances of explosions & fire (whether from grid tied equipment or the very damned safe if installed correctly batteries) then to my minds eye some more ought be given to the community fund, it is still renewable, it is more heavy construction in typically countryside locations.

To deny community fund extra benefits in these circumstances go's against the grain of the community pot, whilst the turbines don't get bigger (yet, necessarily) there will likely be less curtailment, & more production, it needs to be presented properly rather than left in the doldrums, if there is a ceiling in place for community pot fund then that needs to be pared back, if it is based on production then the fact it would go up due to less stop start likelihood needs putting out there asap, before it builds up negativity amongst the public perception.

Some simple logic.

WT production to grid = £ paid to community fund.
WT production sent to a holding battery = £ when released to community fund.
WT curtailment = nothing to community fund.

So getting more productive hours, days & weeks via storage = more £

But to say it is "too complicated" just smacks of we haven't thought about it, ..at this stage yes there is uncertainty but throw them a bone.
If energy is stored you get paid once for it or you get a marginal increase based on market value at time of release presumably ...if pricing slots are already here then what is the problem adding this on? ..needs immediate discussion & common sense applied to sort it before it becomes a problem that has gone live & needs to be untangled retrospectively whilst WT & battery systems are already cranking out results.

I'd like to see a tip speed readout for pure unadulterated geekery.

I'll have to work out a cheat sheet, RPM vs Tip speed.

By the way, I think the live wind speed is shown in the wrong units, I'm pretty sure its showing m/s and not miles per hour as it seems to be consistently much lower than the average wind speed graph (which I believe to be correct in mph) and identical to the benchmark wind farm which quotes m/s.

1 m/s = 2.24 mph

Example,

Interesting, beta n all that maybe? I've just noticed that the rpm is sticking at under 15rpm even though wind is stated as 11mph, at 10.4rpm we were seeing 10mph. Blade angle has went up to 3degs from zero. Made me think maybe that's a little bit of throttling in action. Total learning curve and really ace!

Edit, my met forecast has 22.4mph at site now. 11mph on the insights. Damn close to 1m/s to 2.24mph. Bang on really? Drop em a mail Nowty?

From data sheet,
https://www.vensys.de/fileadmin/user_up ... -2.5MW.pdf

Power Curve
Image

Rated power 2.5 MW
Cut-in wind speed 3 m/s
Cut-out wind speed 25 m/s
Diameter 99.8 m - Therefore swept circumference is 313.5 metres.
Rated speed 14.5 rpm

I calculated a rotor tip speed table

16.9kW PV > 107MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 22MWh generated
