The added malt within a jar of malteser chocolate spread proved to be rodent crack for us (nutella & peanut butter had far more limited effect)

There's no way that I am buying that, but I do have some old malt extract that I could stir into some Nutella. It's worth a try!

yes I get you "cadbury" now part of kraft foods

Same as I won't buy / eat nutella for its dubious ingredient supply for palm oil in the past

I don't eat cadbury for a variety of reasons (inc it being crap) but the closure of uk facilities after the sell off being the main in recent times.

Doesn't stop me dipping a clean knife in the wifes jar though for bait.

Well, hopefully yes ! You may be mixing up the various posters on this topic, but by coincidence I did have lead ingot/brick up near the solar panels. There are clear signs of recent squirrel gnawing on the lead.

However, in the mean time . . . . I had to evict the squirrel again this morning.

I'm about to nip down to the shops to buy some galvanised wire. I'm hoping to block the the gaps between the rails with "scrunched-up" rolls of this wire.
I'm assuming that there is NOT a risk of creating an earth leak if the wire touches the underside of the panel ??

Maybe some abrasion / mechanical damage if left long-term ? Hopefully, this is a temporary measure before replacing with the designated Solar Panel Mesh.

sporran, there are ebay sellers & dedicated metal workshop mesh trimming (left from other jobs) available at reasonable costs if you wish to form a measured panel enclosure.. with a decent reel of something fine & strong to use decent cutters on.. I got about 20 metre roll in this manner. no devil is chewing through that. (might be easier)

Have you become known as the "scourge of squirrels" locally yet? ;)

Thx for the mesh tip. ..
I have a sneaky feeling that the neighbours are quite amused that this virtue-signalling, eco-mentalist is being given a good run-around.

OTOH. Hopefully, they are a bit jealous that I (OAP) can still shin up & down ladders and frolic around on the ( bungalow ) roof . . . . Oh, and doesn't pay for any Grid Elec.

If you really want to worry them take an emu puppet up their with you & complain loudly about tv reception...😂

Sadly the box my reel is in with the company name is long gone (i checked) but i might have mentioned it in another rodents / mesh thread with a link to their somewhat old fashioned site.

I do miss rod hull.
