Hey Mart, $843 per share, what colour u choosing next week?Mart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 12:52 pm Wifey and I were playing on the site this morning, choosing options. With the MIC (made in China) models we'd go for base white then get a wrap, as there's a company near us that have done some gorgeous colours. Or wait for Berlin, and see what these new deep colours are, and how much extra they cost.
But we are still joking about getting a TMY (to replace the TM3) for her birthday in a year's time, so no rush, and I've also made the psychological decision to get one if the TSLA share price hits $850.
Spent last winter/Xmas cladding and insulating the cat rescue building to help assuage my guilt at spending insane money on my mid life crisis toy - not sure how I'll balance the guilt scales on another one!

Sorry mate, Tesla group Wifey belongs to mentioned a TMY info desk, and a close up photo of a frunk filled with jaffa cakes, but it turned out to be a TM3. We (and others) misunderstood the posting, so there was no TMY there. Lovely staff as always, and they promised hand on heart that they don't know when they'll be getting a TMY to display, but really want one. Oh well, I just wanted to see how more upright and higher the sitting position was.Joeboy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 10:44 amWouldn't mind a photo or two if you get the chance Mart?Mart wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 9:42 amTotally agree. Without this and the "other" demised forum I believe many of us would not be anywhere near where we are now on our renewable journeys. Whether its solar PV, batteries, hydro, wind, woodstoves, EVs, smart meters, TOU tariffs, ESG investments, passivhaus new builds, insulation, etc, etc.
I'm just blown away how its all gone, even stuff which hasn't worked also helps others not go down the wrong path like the Freekin Solar Highway or the Wobbly Wind Turbines.
10yrs ago RE leccy was expensive (if we ignored the externality costs of FF's), and there didn't seem much of a solution to addressing other sectors like transport and space heating. Now we have the roll out of BEV's, with exponential growth, heatpumps making (slow) progress, and off-shore wind coming in with truly amazing prices and capacity factors. I almost forgot the move from CFL's to LED's over that time too, and their subsequent drop in price, and very large, but very low power LED TV's.
I appreciate that we are massively behind the curve regarding AGW, but at least I now believe we are in the fight, and can reduce the final damage.
Oh, and the big news ....... apparently Tesla Cardiff have a TMY in their showroom. I might have to make a very long trip today, hope I've got 1% charge available.
I stand amazed at how far we can eke out the power of a single 100W incandescent light bulb. These days we can light multiple rooms from that single source.
Yep. $843 on the close, and $849 in after hours, looks like I'll have to put my money where my big mouth is. Sister is also happy, she was pondering selling some shares in Aug at ~$700, but I told her to wait, and that the end of this year was going to get really interesting! She's done well, having bet her PV and ASHP budget money on them during the Covid crash, at $400, and that's pre-split, so about $80. She now refers to her 10.3kWp system as the PV Elon bought.
Just a silly thought, but when talking about gambling it's typical to say you bet on red or black, but perhaps the smart money should go on green.

Re: Model Y is now available uk.
No worries, I'm sure it will be there soon enough in Cardiff. You and family have done well on the Tesla shares, great to read that. I was looking at the Nissan Ariya online and it looked like a crude attempt at a Y in certain lights. That says a lot for how far Tesla have come. I said to SWMBO, do u fancy that? Nope, nice enough but the Tesla is cool, that's just a car. Fair answer eh?Mart wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 3:44 pmSorry mate, Tesla group Wifey belongs to mentioned a TMY info desk, and a close up photo of a frunk filled with jaffa cakes, but it turned out to be a TM3. On the red, black or green scenario. I am betting green time and again. Planning to dump all Shell shares around Feb assuming this squeeze continues. Keeping BP though as I have faith in them becoming true multifuel company with an increasingly green shade. Shell share funds are going into SSE & solar companies.

Re: Model Y is now available uk.
A quick look about on net this morning and a few articles on the Y's availability to order have stated that the UK ones will be MIC whereas MIG when it's up and running will be LHD Y's.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.driv ... rices/amp/
Single motor version not available to UK, neither is the 7 seater. RHD already being produced for Oz, HK, NZ and In dia out of Shanghai.
https://www.tesmanian.com/blogs/tesmani ... a-few-days
The only production figure I could find was for July at 7,210 RHD Y's.
A financial note I found while reading, may be of interest?

Re: Model Y is now available uk.
Hiya matey, what to do, what to do? Regarding the sell part - I did say quite a few months ago that when it hits $850 I'd sell a TMY's worth and put it safely aside, and I try to stick to the rule 'plan your work, and work your plan', but with the earnings call looming and I suspect (but please don't trust my advice on this) more good news, and growth news to come this year / early Jan (Q4 results), should I hold on a bit longer?
Regarding the buy part - I had been pretty chilled about this, with the target date of Sept 2022 going back about 2yrs, and even that date being a dream, since I never thought Tesla could execute this quickly. But now I'm pondering a 3 for Y swap much earlier ........ man things move fast in the Tesla Universe.
In reality, I suppose I only need to consider the difference of the two cars, and the depreciation on the TM3 has been very low, in fact now that the PiG has been removed for BEV's over £35k, it may actually have gone up a smidge, so I could just sell enough for the difference, and order a TMY as a placeholder.
Life was so much easier before I invested in Tesla!
Or ...... I could go back to my roots and the first electric car I bought, which was about £80 back in the 80's.

It was the "Wild Willy" for me.
(original not the mid mount mk2)
& there began a mind that thought those engine powered ones are a bit ****
(7.2 volt nicads were tough as hell it must be said, SO much fast charging)
No wonder we are the way we are when you think about it.
