Looks like there was a new record set whilst I was away on 30th Dec at 20.918 GW between 18:00 and 18:30.

Quite surprising for a low demand day, more records likely to tumble this month as the jetstream seems to be fired up this month.

18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 26MWh generated

105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 510 m3

Although is anyone else becoming a bit less interested in the peak generation figure? Think I'm more interested in lowest average carbon days, weeks and months now, although harder to get the stats.

National Grid is currently showing Wind at 19.48GW, 52.1%. Emissions 63g/kWh.
Emissions last 12 months ave 182g/kWh, ave cost £200.79/MWh.

One wind farm that I can see from our bedroom window only has 7 out of its 10 turbines rotating.

Actually slightly disappointing average emissions haven't fallen much on last couple of years, presumably due to post COVID demand rebound, low wind last year etc

Thats the point where I scream how wind turbines dont work, also, they simply may be too tired to turn after a busy day killing thousands of 🐦 eh! ..just like the orange buffoon said.

Our view of local turbines blocked since new builds went up, I'm jealous.

That's most likely curtailment in action. Easy to limit wind generation by turning off a turbine or two if the local grid is constrained

Last year the main drivers were,

Old UK Nuke plants shutting down forever and the unusual amount of additional demand through export to Europe to keep them full of gas storage.

Yes, agreed. I guess it hasn't been helped by continued use of coal which had, until the recent crisis, been reducing at a rate of knots. But even so it's great seeing wind playing such a significant role over the last week or two. At least it's getting '23 off to a good start.
WT1 is set to run at full chat for each hour of today, so a small contribution coupled with a satisfactory return for those fortunate enterprising enough to have secured a share.
