Not at all pal, itsgood to share. I used a .177 for crows once upon a time. 50/60 yd knockdowns and clean. Wouldn't be co fident beyond that.

Re: Small things matter
As a lad we kept rats down on my uncle's farm with sheets of wriggly tin placed flat on the ground close to the chicken sheds. The technique was to don steelies, have the 410 ready and kick a sheet of wriggly tin over quickly whilst blasting the rats nesting below. I think my cousin and I once shot a best of around 80 rats in one day. Almost as good as getting the rat man in with his terriers.

Good to know JB. I’ll give that a goJoeboy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 2:16 pm BTB, you process your own logs? I ask as I collect the woodshavings from my processing, bag em. Leave a year to dry then.pack them down tight into paperbags. One of those paperbags will burn for a full hour and the fire loves it. Can hear it heat up and it's very cool to watch the surface of the woodshavings ablate.

"Ablate"
Thank you, haven't heard that terminology in years! (when not used medically)

Le Creuset for a fiver? A good deal I am told by SWMBO?
Will do a small sausage & onion casserole in it on the WBS this evening(for tomorrow).
It's a great size for the back right corner of the WBS and a long slow cook.

Re: Small things matter
All change, sausage casserole put on the back burner ( ). Instead took a 1kg bag of frozen prepped apples and turned them into a apple jam/sauce. SWMBO suggested that I try freezing the sauce in an oversize ice cube tray and bag the cubes for later use. I thought it a cracker of an idea.
The sauce turned out beautifully, slightly tart with a lovely sweetness. Jarred a 1/2 kilo to use on my Winter morning porridge
I have found the whole apple growing process to be enormously satisfying. The ash from the WBS is going directly onto the ground around the fruit trees and Rhubarb.
I'll show the apple cubes tomorrow. Cheers!

Re: Small things matter
Smart thinking about the ice cube tray, I might have to steal that approach!

You are very welcome to it MrPablo, SWMBO is an outstanding lateral thinker. I also fancy some from the jar with ice cream later!

I was fortunate enough to be beside a volcano in Douala Cameroon. Where the lava flow ended from the last eruption was absolutely leaping with life. I always think of that when I empty my wee bucket.
