Balcony solar PV

Towards the end of play we have 80%+ soc in the stack. Pretty good for a so so day. Also ran up the airfryer and multiple kettles.

I had been going to buy a waterproof box to house the meter but instead fell back on my Womble Mantra. Made this box out of literally a handful of scrap engineered board left over from the battery extension wall mount build.

Will finish and mount tomorrow. The handle, the hinges, even the magnetic catch are all reclaimed from over the years. A decent way to close out the PV build here.

Just under 300W flowing from the Enphase HP panel, assuming my shonky arithmetic is close.



Needs some more curing and varnish layers before I fit the meter & box and know for sure. I have no idea what the range of the IQ 7 is on AC side. It states as a 250W unit but it seems to flow higher than that. I could end up with 600W peak between the two Enphase systems? I'll be happy with that.

Can definitely see an extra sprightliness in the March SOC figures. A robust SOC buoyancy based on the reduced home running load as well as PV.

Can't attribute it directly to either of the Enphase systems, forest docking or in-house awareness, not one in particular. Wish I could!

Nonetheless we have found ourselves firing up the solariboost manually or chucking power at the EV on a more regular basis than memory states has been the case this early in the season.

There is something particularly luxurious in looking at a grey sky scenario, yet pulling 1kWh+ and taking care of the family.

An English, French fella switched me on to that way of thinking. Merci Mon brave!

Cracking day here in NW Wales, all three seasons in the hour at present but in-between the wintry showers and gusty wind the sun comes and the scatter off the white cloud edges pushes the panels up towards 3.2kWp

Excellent day ! I hope everyone is having similar or indeed better conditions.

If it blows like this in May then we should see some good results from Kirkhill too its shaping up for an interesting year.

A bit pants here today..

Although I was tidying up getting ready for the grandkids this weekend, and saw my lonely looking Perlight 295's that I took off my Pergola, they are currently sitting under the pergola shaded by the new panels leaning up against the wall, since the Hoymiles inverter is now doing nothing I decided to see what if anything I'd get from them.. 40w's is 40w's damn it.

40W extra is indeed better in your circuits than not!, can you prop the panels in a better position for the day ? I have three panels that I move around as the day progresses / weather dictates.

Today because its gusty (40mph) and we are exposed to Westerlies I have only got the 150W panel out as that straps on to a sack barrow with 50kg of rock ballast on its base. Note there have been days where I have had to pick the panel up off the ground and throw in more rocks! but recently its been pretty solid.

On nice calm days I can deploy 825Wp of panel like this, tracking the at intervals through the day and ending up with the larger panels leaning against the front of the cottage on the bench to catch the setting sun, by May the panels will be replaced by me and the wife and a cold glass of something refreshing watching the sunset instead
