Anyone changing leccy tarif these days?

Good energy have just upped the standing charge for a property that uses very little energy from 34p a day to 57p a day. This increase seems disproportionately high from a bit of googling (https://www.theguardian.com/money/2022/ ... -the-agony ) but I also get a sense that there's really no point in shopping around much these days. Do you folks agree that there's no point shopping around just now?

(Leccy used has gone from 33p/kwh to 39p/kwh , which irritates me much less in the scheme of things. Interested whether this is v high or only quite high though??)

Sound a little high to me, though I am with Bulb! Their rate is 27.4p ( E7 rate is different) in Yorkshire, SC is 49p

There's a message on the tariff switch page on Octopus that basically says to not to and stay on your supplier's standard price-capped tariff until things calm down.

I'm currently on EDF (moved out, 2 bed flat, no longer have solar, or my Immersun, or dead PowerVault, long story for another day)

Electricity
Standing charge - 43p/day
Rate 28.46p/kWh

Gas
Standing charge - 27p/day
Rate 7.48p/kWh

Needless to say, I'm turning everything off when I go out (including the Wifi Router), minimum use of lighting, and let's just say that living by myself at the moment I can let the personal hygeine slide a bit. Hopefully the flat won't get too cold in the winter - it seems pretty well insulated, and I have flats below and above. And I have a large supply of jumpers.

Sorry to hear that Dan. At least you can take comfort in the fact your tariffs are a fair bit lower than mine!

I had assumed that the Good Energy standard tariff would be capped, but it appears not. I understand why it is, more or less, but it annoys me a lot that the green tariff has shot up so much. I'm very tempted to move to another supplier's standard price-capped tariff.

Hmmm. It looks like even that isn't really possible. I'm surprised there hasn't been more press about non-capped green tariffs going up so much more than the cap each time (Ecotricity and Good Energy both have exemptions from the cap). This article covers it, but not much else out there.

Be careful turning a WiFi router off, the other end can think a fault has developed so that when you turn it back on again it reduces the speed for a few days looking for a fault before slowly ramping it back up again (this mainly applies to DSL lines).

No one seems to be taking new customers when I enquired recently. I’m with good energy, on their business tarrif and our electricity cost has tripled since October. I’ve switched to domestic tarrif but that’s not much better. There’s no cap on any of their remarries as they say you accept paying more for green power.

I’d jump to octopus if I could get a decent deal and have a smart meter installed.
