Forgot my own advice, drowned my phone

Thank goodness for saving years worth of silica gel bags (all sizes)

In a self mocking attempt to see if there was a volt or even two from portable solar with a usb ammeter (clear line of sight a few days back) I got caught by rain having forgotten to protect the electronics, phone, amm, cables, powerbank, ..currently drying on a radiator in a takeaway container with a smothering of bags.

90% clear of moisture, better than a bag of rice in terms of drawing out.
(mostly gleaned from asian noodle & biscuit bags, tougher than normal silica packaging means easier reuse in travel electronics etc) 😉

Don't apologise for my stupidty joe 😵 ..I didn't hear the rain nor use protective pocket as i thought 40 mins power check, ..some hours later was wringing out ones phone, merely serves to highlight a good bag & silica gel, even early morning moisture can do it, ..last time was 1983, so I was overdue getting caught out.

its done nothing but rain here solidly for around 16 hours, its so overcast that we haven't harvested a single watt today.

Mr Gus if you have a any vacuum bags pop the phone and silica gel bags in one and partially evacuate - this will drop the EP of the water and give the desiccant a bit of a helping hand.

Most phones are fully waterproof these days…
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

You don't want to test that theory in the back of yonder, ..& my phones are cheap, old, rarely replaced, & under £100 a few years ago as an open box refurb usb c connector.
What sort, of price range = waterproof these days on android?

I don't know about Android. Apple started making iPhones waterproof nearly a decade ago but didn't tell anyone, people just noticed their phone nolonger died when you dropped it in the toilet. Nowadays people go swimming with them and I believe they're certified down to 6m.

Thanks stinsy.
Had too much moisture under glass from supposedly waterproof watches to ever risk a phone, marketing is one thing reality often another.
wonder how right to repair suffers in all this waterproofing business.

Any kind of IP rating gives the manufacturer a get-out-of-jail-free card on R2R.
