But what does 7.14

Re: Octopus Powerups
Essentially anyone on flux could game the system for a couple of quid every time it happens. Doubt they want us lot taking part unless they want to split the arbitrade benefits with us.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 3:27 pm I can't be in it but my son can, thanks for the alert.

Re: Octopus Powerups
It would not apply to me, 2011 FIT, but could you charge your battery to 100% on a sunny day for free and then export any spare solar at a price as well? Not that anybody would be that devious of course.

Re: Octopus Powerups
I hadn't given it any thought in that direction. I did think it was an excellent step in the right direction to be utilising more of our RE assets rather than them going fallow. I assume there is a financial upside for Octopus? I'm not judging, it's really great to see a company wearing a white hat rather than black.
I am relatively confident that any battery based gaming that goes on will be minimal in the overall picture and will have been expected. Essentially it would be decentralised grid energy storage at a micro asset level. I don't really see a problem? I DO see utilisation of existing assets with a financial reward for those that actually invested and can take advantage. I won't be part of it as I've designed in another direction but I do applaud it.

Re: Octopus Powerups
As we increasingly move to more renewables, I think this sort of grid balancing will inevitably become more widespread, especially if you live locally to a large renewable asset.

We’re working with UK Power Networks on this cutting-edge flexibility service to help balance their local networks. The programme funds free electricity for key areas where there’s regularly extra green electrons going to waste.
