Reasons for rejection of user registration

#1

Post by Galahad »

There has been a spate of these recently so I thought I'd just give a heads-up.

If you have applied to become a registered user and have not been successful - there could be a few reasons.

1. You work for a company and have used their name as your username or part thereof. Try again with no commercial affiliation text in your username.

2. You've used your email address, or a part of it, as your username. This is a bad idea from the point of view of your own security.

3. You have selected to use an offensive username. Try again with no offensive text in your username. Be aware that some words can be seen as offensive in languages other than the main one you may speak.

4. Your IP address indicates you are trying to register from a country where experience has taught us to be wary of spammers and scammers. Your application will be rejected.

5. Your IP address is not from a recognised broadband supplier (possibly it is a VPN). These will also lead to a rejection. Once you have successfully registered, using a standard IP address, you can switch to using a VPN if you wish.

6. If you have registered OK but your first post has not appeared. Wait a while as all first posts are monitored and will not appear until approved. If you included a URL in your first post then it will be rejected. Try to post again but without any links. If your first post is outright spam then your post will be rejected and your registration will be immediately deleted.

Thanks.
