To France again!

#1

Post by dan_b »

Well another summer another Dan trip to France.
Just arrived in Reims - left London this morning starting with 90% charge. An easy drive to Folkestone (no traffic delays) so an easy top up back to 90% before getting on the Shuttle.

Drove somewhat above the French speed limit for a bit so stopped off a little earlier than planned for a splash and dash using the Octopus Electroverse card to sort payment before continuing on to my first destination- Reims.

A remarkable number of EVs on the Eurotunnel but otherwise a completely trouble free journey so far….

Nice, my wife gets range anxiety when it’s got 100miles left and we are nipping to town 5 miles away!
At least I’m getting 160miles full charge with the warmer weather

I think at 90% the GOM says something like 286 miles.

I may have seen 145mph at one point. Allegedly. It was in Kmh so couldn’t be sure. That burns the range…

So a couple of days in Reims, one in Chantilly and now to Paris for some Olympics.

500 miles down so far, average of 310Wh/mole. It’s been incredibly hot and humid.

Two more charges done too - one on a 150kW Hypercharger using the Octopus Electroverse card at 42p/kWh and also a nice overnight 100% charge freebie as the hotel in Chantilly had a Tesla destination charger.

Judging by your pics Dan I wouldn't want to be caught unawares in the firing line. I remember seeing them watering at the 2012 Olympics. Presumably theres no shortage of water over there currently?

Final charge whilst wine shopping at the Carrefour hyper market at Cite Europe.

Spot the difference between the advertised charge rate and the actual charge achieved!

Mind you I wish I’d checked the price before I filled up - turns out this was 82p/kWh - the most expensive electricity I’ve ever used - cost me £54…

Back home - took 4 hours to drive from Folkestone to Twickenham. Ridiculous. But there we go - 787 miles, 239kWh consumed at an average of 303Wh/mile overall.

Charging in France not using the Tesla Superchargers was essentially flawless with the Octopus Electroverse card.
