In an attempt to reduce non recycled plastic we opted for the coffee grinder from Krups, well actually the wife did, I read reviews & it seems the power switch is of such excruciating quality that it was a no go area as far a happy life was concerned ..but the wife had bought it without "consultation" from amazon a month ago.
Fact is it didn't even last a month, it sat boxed whilst we went through lidl coffee that "expired" back in 2016 (bought to make a desert I recall)
In fact it lasted for 2 full bean grinds before i'm guessing the power switch died like a chocolate teapot on a vaguely warm day!
Checked the micro switches (base of hopper lid) ..cleaned around that in case.
Ditto the collectors 2x micro switches & seating of the collecter.
Also emptied hopper, cleaned, banged & agitated any potential blockage loose. ...nope!
DEAD, £40 shipped from china "pished" away.
Dead after a grand total of 2 minutes use from new, How for FFS can manufacturers get away with this crap after all these years?
I called amazon & got a refund on the £20 bag of beans & the grinder.
Monday will mean a sharp tongue call to the "idiot design property holders & manufacturers of crap"
I did find this, damning video in which he puts a better quality switch on, ...but TBH it is beyond most folks modern day competence & you should really expect better, ..the Krups site boasts about a 10 year repairability. ..HA! ..design & build better from the outset, product death so soon doesn't make for a recommended purchase from anyone.
Scum.
DO NOT BUY (KRUPS GVX2) failed after 2 uses

Scum is a bit harsh.
So is planning to give a sharp tongue to someone, more than likely someone in the call centre no related to the product design, getting verbal..
You got a refund, so chill out.
Re: DO NOT BUY (KRUPS GVX2) failed after 2 uses
I come from an audio background rooted in fixing design error, & allowing this to go on for so long without dealing with it is fecking over a brand from left to right, a cheap piece that lets something down in mere minutes of use is something that deserves strong feeling put across, or else I cannot say I tried.
Who said I was going to get arsey with a phone spod who knows jack about the product? not I.
This is manufacturing waste at its worst & a sh1te way of treating customers.
I already have lead names & emails of the tossers up top who allow this, pls its a galling damnable, unnecessary logistics nightmare for a service department to sort through sh1te design, service depts aint cheap, neither is the guesswork of spares for a good product let alone a bad one.
The Planet doesn't get healthy off this.
