Still flailing after covid, "beer festivals"

#1

Post by Mr Gus »

Heard yesterday whilst planning Cambridge visits in the coming weeks that the Jesus green located CAMRA beer festival was cancelled, they cited, covid, brexit, logistics problems had badly screwed the pooch..

Nothing since 2019, so it really is taking a toll on things, ..Will be 4 years elapsed by the next one, (a lot of missed trade) not a fan of big indoor beer events, have lots of marquee suppliers gone to the wall?

How "back to normal" is it for others?

I went to a beer festival the other week, it was the long-delayed 2020 festival and I'm pleased to say it was exactly the same as the 2019, 2018, etc., variants. Not a mask in sight, busy, several hundred different beers to try, band playing. I enjoyed it very much indeed.

I don't see how they can blame Brexit?

Yup, they offered no context stinsy, therefore it's a baseless foundation as far as explanations go.

OK, it's a 10 day Euro run in the Mazda Bongo with my son. Should make it as far as Asschafenburg in Germany for a 🍕 at my mates pub. 6 years since son of sons had time away from work. On the lash seemed a safe bet to whinkle him out? Will mix in some mountains and lakes too.

I really like Germany, son has never been.

Yep, Germany a good country for a road trip - son used to live in Berlin. Belting city.

I could get from home in Somerset to his place quicker than I could get to see him when he was in Leeds. Easy excuse to get over for a weekend.

Always. Yep, liked In Bruges. Don’t like Belgium though - don’t know what it is. Driven through it loads, stayed in various towns/cities for work and pleasure.

Just can’t get on with it.

Like the architecture, brickwork and beer - wouldn’t worry if I never went back.

Not the first time I've heard that. I'm hoping to have A pint of Joker IPA when there and maybe take my son round Cantillon brewery and introduce him to Cantillon Gueze. Delerium Tremens 4 storey pub too in Brussels and a decent hotel. Also Bourgone de Flandres, the best red ale I know of.

Ach, Belguims pish!
