Re: Budget changes - impact on EVs?

MM, there are NOW, but even as recenly as late 2020 thebev market choice was a lot smaller & potential range limited, as well as naff all known by the staff manning the places selling "one" ev within their massive range. Exactly how we ended up getting the lowest model with a single m...

Re: DIY Install and MCS accreditation!

I tweeted this as a moan to Octopus and Greg Jackson, and to my surprise he responded! "A lot of this is subject to external / regulatory audit - MCS delivers on the auditor needs but let me see what alternatives are" Stand by DIY installers! While on the subject, I also asked him for a d...

Back to Rough just for a second - I found this interesting, particularly the bit around geology, as background to why it was closed and more current events. https://watt-logic.com/2022/08/08/re-opening-rough-gas-storage/ Its capacity and output was certainly in the "helpful" category, a fe...

Re: Energy policy - and (some) Tory heads-in-the-sand

If the volume house builders were forced to do something you can be pretty sure that they would find the most cost effective way (ok, cheapest) to incorporate into their house designs (using that "design" word very loosely i know). New build is the easy entry point. Every day we don't do i...

Re: Energy policy - and (some) Tory heads-in-the-sand

Interesting point re hugely distributed energy storage. Others will be closer to how the mechanism works but would one way to get the ball rolling be via the various Building Regs? I mean if they can mandate smaller window areas.... I don't underestimate the resistance the house builders would put u...

Re: Decision time...

There were very, very good reasons why the Arquiva operated long range radio system supplied by Sensus wasn't adopted in the South & Midlands regions....

Naff all to do with technology.

Re: A Good Energy Monitoring System

Might be worth considering the system from https://openenergymonitor.org Hugely flexible, sometimes needs a little knowledge to get started, but has good support and an active user community. Can use a "cloud" server if you need to monitor things remotely, but theres no requirement for tha...

Re: AC coupled storage system

With agreement from the FIT provider (easier said than done), the existing inverter could be replaced with a hybrid inverter and if the batteries are capable to be charged from the grid, the generation meter can be changed for a bi-directional one. https://theecosupermarket.co.uk/product/emlite-eca...
