Aren't you fitting a flashing between the wall and the roof?

Yes but i'm deep time belts & braces thinking. Legacy project!

Also i've not fitted a flashing before so not 100% confident of full seal.

Turns out that Screwfix are quite a bit cheaper than Toolstation. Got my order in so I'll be good to go once back from hols. Also in back of mind was the tarrifs from the other day so the order is in while prices are here the noo. Got a new cordless impact drill, long level and a tub of 600 screws as my bonus items in the order for future jobs.

Bought so far

Amazed at the pace youve been working for a "future project" Joe.
Make a decision, get stuck in.
Love it.
Which timber mill did you go with in the end?

I want to be Joeboy when I grow up.... I think about things too much.
He has an idea... Plans drew up and materials ordered within the hour. Gets stuff that day and later on in the day, project has started. The next day it's built!

Once you get your ledger plate on to the wall you could simply place a length of wood onto it (of a suitable size) then run a grinder with a diamond blade to cut a slot into the gable wall. Into this slot can be fitted some lead sheet that can be dressed against the wall and down over the corrugated iron roof sheets. Give me a shout if you want a hand to do this.

Re: Outbuildings and why they're great. (Vanport)
The mill is up your way Nora. The lad says he might drop off today. Even down to the almost wire yesterday I managed to adjust the roofsheeting to 5.3mtr up from 5.0mtr due to an 'ahem' error in measurement.

The roofed space is now fully open with the removal of the last fence section. Can see it fully for what it is.

Once timber is on site I'll slow down as the timber needs a while to dry. Getting all the gear at today's prices is an old habit from my youth.
There will be a reworked courtyard section out past the HP area. I'm leaving that fence up until it's time to drive the van in for the first time.

Re: Outbuildings and why they're great. (Vanport)
Much obliged Joe, thanks.
Il give him a ring in the week and see if he can help.
we have to bite the bullet and get dried lumber though.
We have a shared shed that straddles the boundary with the neighbour, and need to get an asbestos roof removed before dismantling can occur.
We have a very reasonable quote but once its gone, the build has to start as our stuff will have to be tarped over in the garden.

Me n No1 will be offloading then heading to pub for a burger & pint. I'll post photos tomorrow. There was a load of already cut timber air drying in a HUGE vanport on site.NoraBatty wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 1:18 pm Much obliged Joe, thanks.
