Third timber upright in. Checked carefully for van top point clearance. The value is 2.8 mtrs, the bottom of the horizontal timber is set to allow 140mm clearance.

Away to collect 18 slabs tomorrow. About 2T of top soil to shovel. X amount of that will be container tatties. The rest a bit of lawn level and top up veg patch. A great day and I'm glad to leave the uprights for a couple of weeks to cure properly.

It's a beautiful evening across the whole country. I'll grab a beer and see what the slab count requirements are.

Hopefully we'll end up with a full 6x5 mtr slabbed area.

Both myself & swmbo sat round there in chairs today and marvelled at the space we'll gain. I can genuinely see me kipping in the van round there for nights 'away' at the side of the house.

Got about 36 slabs to collect over next 2 days.

Edit 35 slabs needed!

Looking at post holiday works I reckon i'll be looking to get the ledger plate up and on at the gable end. I've never used resin fixed bolts before but reckon that will be the way to go?

https://rawlplug.co.uk/product/r-kem-ii ... -concrete/

These ones popped up, anyone used them? I'll be fixing a 6"x2" ledger plate so will have plenty of space for fixings.

M8 version has a recommended shear resistance of 500kgs per bolt

4"x2" come in at 9 kg each, round up to 14 of @ 126kgs
6" x 2" come in at 13.5 kg each. round up to 3 of @ 40.5kgs
8 solar panels @ 20kgs each 160kgs
snow load 1.2T @ 6"

1,526kgs, call it 1,600kgs for solar panel frames, plus wind load takes it up to 2T.

That would take me up to 4 resin bolts. They come in packs of four so I reckon 2 packs fitted and I won't be worrying about much at all. Get some stainless washers in the back of the plate too to let water flow past.

Bonus in that I can get myself a battery SDS.

Resin bolts are good, just remember to get all the dust out the hole, some manufacturers advise to dampen hole and let it dry a bit, put nozzle all the way back and pull it out as you pump in resin.

Don’t use the first bit of resin out the tube it wont be mixed properly and twist the bolt into the resin not push it in.

Resin dries quicker the warmer the weather is….

that's good stuff, I've used loads of it

as above, make sure there's no dust in the holes

make sure it's not too cold too.... makes a big difference to how fast it sets

makes a big difference what you’re going into too, if it's something solid they'll be super solid... if it's something that'll break/crumble then they're not much good

you don't need their fancy threaded rod stuff... any threaded rod will do

give it plenty of time to set too... I'd prop the wood up, drill through, put the resin in, put the threaded rod in and then let if set overnight before tightening up (if you can)

you don't want the rod sticking out of the wall and then try to push the wood over it... the resin will set and non of the rods will be 100% lined up with your holes... makes for hard work

also... when you're drilling into the wall/blocks whatever... it's much better if you stop before you go all the way through.... go right through and the resin will squirt out the back instead of filling the hole

Great tip on prop up and drill through. I would have went the other awkward way. Cool, cheers!
