How much would he have needed to invest in order to save, or make, that claimed £3000 or so in the 2nd year? Sounds like a hell of a lot.

Well, he got 4 times what I did in the first year, so he must have put about £7500 in. I would say £2k in the second year is a reasonable guess, £3.5k is very optimistic!
2.0 kW/4.62 MWhr pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWhr batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWhr pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,

Just over £7000.

EDIT - For the claimed £3531 in the article, it would be about £8500.

Cool cheers. So about a standard-ish solar install then.

I guess the Seedrs bit is the additional finance that R talk about raising in parallel with coop member contributions.
That's as I understand it too, AE. As Ripples ethos is to help Joe Public with community based projects then I'm all for assisting them so followed up on it with a contribution. I see they are now over funded so looks like they have loyal supporters!
It's not entirely benevolent on my part as hoping to receive a financial return at some point! :xx:
I registered and read more about it.

Its a convertible issue (at discount) to convert to equity when they plan to raise a larger amount of equity next year for their alleged expansion into Europe. It qualifies for EIS (30% tax relief) but its far too risky for me.

Some quite interesting posts on their forum were Sarah (CEO of Ripple) has answered some questions. Like regarding the 120% ownership rule, she says the Coop's have been set up with this rule agreed with FCS approval and would be difficult to change. They believe they will be going more mainstream in due course to acquire new customers. And may also become FCA registered which would enable them to offer more standard investment type offerings in future.

At least KH managed to get all of its components to site, I feel sorry for this Windfarm in the Scottish Borders,

First their turbine deliveries were delayed by high winds.

Then their transport vehicle was damaged by vandals.

20 tyres damaged on transport vehicle.
