And visibility is good too, one concern I had was fog.
Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

Good, we need it asap: currently energynumbers showing 8GW wind, 21.7 gas and 2 coal!
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
Most travel by bike, walking or bus/train. Veg, fruit - and Bees!

Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?
From information received yesterday I understand it takes eight hours to assemble the blades! Now I don't know if they assemble the blades to the hub at ground level and then lift the entire assembly to install onto the generator or whether the hub is attached first and then the blades seperately afterwards. I suspect it may be the former in order to access the fixings but I don't know.
Is anyone else better informed?

I have seen pictures of blades being raised 1 by 1 in a lifting frame which keeps them in the right orientation to be fixed to the hub. Don't know whether they turn the hub (unbalanced) to keep the same orientation, or lift the blades in different attitudes.

I have also found which shows one being raised already assembled!

The day 4 video report from Ripple definitely says the rotor is being attached on the ground and the whole rotor assembly is lifted up together.
20 secs to 35 secs into the video.

Yep, it's still a hairy lift but at least they have the whole field to land it on if the wind picked up. Can't do that offshore on a 150 mtr+ dia lift. Well, not easily!

'Graig Fatha Turbine Week 2 - The first blade is attached to the hub
12/2/2021
Now the weather has cleared up (a little!) down on site, work has started again on the turbine construction.
We're excited to share that the first blade has been connected to the hub. Blade two is being lifted onto the hub as we speak. We're hoping then all the blades will be lifted into position later today but this is still weather dependent. We will update members as soon as we hear more, we're as excited as you are to see the blades in position!'
Ya Dancer!!!!!
