National Grid just issued a capacity warning for 6pm this evening - forecasting below 0.5GW of margin available.

Are we set for a big fat fail at the first, albeit marginal weather, stress test ?

I wonder what the general public will panic buy this time instead of bog roll ?

Mr Gus, get your candles ready,

Nowty - err well err carry on as you would normally

I just got some more logs in and brought out the chess board :)

Isn't that margin abit wide? Do these notices happen too early?

National Grid runs a pretty big capacity margin for very good reasons!

This shows the issue. We're burning pretty much everything (gas still has margin), importing on all HVDCs and the solar will go soon.

National grid has decided not to run a down event tomorrow, I wonder if that's because it could clash with the England game and cause too many household arguments.

Nicely contextual snapshot there dan 😂
Lads, I popped over to my ok neighbour they have a toddler ween, & were totally unaware of any grid problems, ..another neighbour has xmas lights blazing (for 5 days? ..whilst xmas lights are all low draw, its this or big problems, & the public is generally not ready to listen, but it will panic & listen less.

Suggest those with immediate & ok neighbours esp the old & toddlers get the heads up.. 6pm draws nearer.

Fire ready, candles ready headtorches etc.. sandwiches likely, flask boiled.

All's well (except with that tesla & their inept uk phone staff)

Tried to let kid (in a class) know to prime her flatmates, ..who thought they smelt gas, evacuated the flats lae on a recent friday night, called the fire brigade only to find its all electric...

"blind panic" + stupidity
