I thought you said the battery was not discharging?
It all works fine until it is fully charged and the excess is exported (which has only happened since February because before then the battery never got fully charged) then on 8 occasions, and not always consecutive days, the battery has indicated a fault condition and so has the inverter and they have locked out. This has never automatically reset but I can manually reset it by power cycling the system and it continues fine till the next time.

Your top setting for battery voltage may be set too high? Worth a dive in the manual and then lower the setting ? My system is set to cut off battery charging at 53.2V

The inverter will export to the grid (from the PV) once the battery is full but the battery shouldn't go into fault and require a manual reset.. This sounds more of a firmware issue- I would contact the supplier again and if they are not helpful then Growatt.

It won't be voltage settings as the Battery BMS will set them in the inverter by the CAN / RS485 lead.

Thanks, I have contacted Growatt uk but there are only two cellphone numbers, message left, plus I emailed the address.

In a phone conversation with the installer's company owner he was adamant that the red symbol is a sign the battery is full and on stand by. However it has occurred twice today and once the PV panels ceased production the battery stayed on stand by, electricity was being supplied by the grid until I power cycled the battery when the display went green and we went on battery power.

I am awaiting a response from Growatt

I presume you are using a reasonable amount of electricity from the grid when this happens ?

Many battery systems stay in standby until your pulling in more than 100w or so. If you are only using a small amount of leccy from the grid, turn on a kettle or something similar to see if it comes out of standby.

I had a reasonable amount of success emailing Growatt in China, with my old DC coupled battery, as the UK response wasn't great - I can probably dig out an email address if you don't get any response from UK contacts?

Yes even a kettle doesn't bring it out of standby, as a fault registers in the daily log and the normal green symbol turns to red I am sure something is up and the installer just doesn't want to deal with it.

It is not a big problem to reset and if we are out then little electricity is being used so not a big cost either.

Is the installer a member of a trade group or did you pay with credit card or finance? If so i would write to installer and give him so many days to sort it then take it further. It's not working as intended and clearly has a fault.

Three times that I remember, I was being brushed off or ignored. Contacting the Ombudsman for the specific field that was letting me down shot me straight to the top of 'and how can we help sir today?' list.

I had an email reply from the installer that the problem had been escalated to the technical team who would be in touch. Nothing from Growatt UK which I suspect is just an accommodation address with two cellphones registered here but not necessarily in this country.

As I said it is not much of a problem to me but it will have to be fixed.

Just as a followup I heard no more from the installer but on 3rd April I received an email from growatt (GB rep I think but from Chinese server AFAICS) to say they had done a firmware upgrade remotely on the 30th March.

Since then the sun has filled the battery several times and we have exported quite a few kWh with no errors or lockouts.
