Just on that FITS front, there is a document on the OFGEM site which describes the treatment of FITS (for both generation and export payments) depending on the configuration of retro-fit energy storage.

Understand its a slightly different situation to the question posed by the OP, but its worth consulting the document if thats your scenario.

The document was "suitably vague" in a few areas in its original form, leading to different energy retailers (and even different people on the same retailer!) interpreting it differently. It is much improved now.

Yes I don't think there is any scope for payments now and the intention is to self consume as much as possible (should be easy with the EV) and not bother with claiming for exports.

As the plan will be to be avoiding importing electricity for 8 months of the year and finding an off peak tariff for the EV for the 4 months I do wonder how a charger for the EV will behave and only send excess to the car, similarly in the event of super abundance whether there would be a conflict with diverting to an immersion.

Usage was just under 14kWh per day for the last year even with the EV so it will exceed production I think About 5Mwh required and 3.6MWh predicted production.

Still waiting for the survey and quote, my daughter is sceptical even though I'm offering to pay.
