A comms update from Ripple,

'We are working on improving our notification system. We've had a few teething issues with the router which transmits the data and a few technical faults which have led to outages. It is a high priority of ours to improve our ability to capture these issues as soon as possible and provide information to members.'

For WT1 owners, the Ripple April savings are in the Octopus account.

Virtual battery (recalibrated) now at SOC 74%.
At 100%+ it will get me through next winter. :geek:

16.9kW PV > 107MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 22MWh generated
5 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 510 m3

Joeboy wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 12:35 pm The idea of Virtual Battery for Winter just gives it a sci-fi twist.
So my annual import is circa 10,000 kWh and my average cost per kWh, even if you include the standing charge's and the small amount of gas I use would come to 10p per kWh or less, or in other words £1000 per year or less.

So I visualise my Virtual Battery as a SOC % with a calibration of £1000 credit being a SOC of 100%. In reality I would never need the battery at 100% because the WT's are generating nicely in the winter but it would guarantee me a years worth of power, even if it was out of action for a long time.

So my current Octopus dashboard shows,

But I visualise it as,

And that SOC will rise over the summer, maybe to around 50% and even have a 20% increment when we get the enforced energy £200 loan in October. So will maybe peak this year at around 70% SOC as I move into the discharge phase.

The token £1 a month DD is in case of any virtual battery self discharge.
Finally seeing this, , excellent 👏!
I am currently -5% soc in the VB and a mighty tenner a month dd. :D

That's my deposit in for Project 3, My dashboard is starting to look crowded! :ugeek:

We have solar panels, we have solar farm shares, this will be a nice 'other solar segment' investment if they do go solar farm.

Anyone hear the comment on R4 this morning that if there is to be a windfall tax on the fossil fuel [extracting] companies then it should be applied to renewables too? Could give us a back-dated liability...
A
2.0 kW/4.62 MWhr pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWhr batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWhr pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
Most travel by bike, walking or bus/train. Veg, fruit - and Bees!

I'll be honest. The thought of the windfall tax on energy companies makes me want to throw up on many levels. Just one more aspect of panhandling Britain that i detest.

At one point a few years back i had taken a 73% hit on shares and a 100% hit on dividends, didn't complain, just got on with it. Did not hear a single voice offering to help the energy companies, now the tide has turned and the profits are rising that somehow gives scumbag Britain an in to those profits? 'F**k off to Oxfam and buy a jumper if you're cold and make sure the kids read 'The three little pigs', he generalised...'

Sorry, this one hits a nerve in me, obviously i hide it well. :D

I feel the same on an RE windfall tax.

Actually they said that the windfall tax was justified because the oil companies did get bailouts a few years ago...
