Oh dear, that's excellent. Bit of S&V, couldn't be happier!
This has been an odd couple of days. Seem to have kicked the oven to Xmas only, didn't mean that at all. This airfryer unit pulls the full 2.2kWh on startup but I watched it kick in and out down to 800W, then 500W then back up to 2.2kW, very little heat emitted to the case and crazy fast cooking.

The oven with its slow heat up time and longer cook times even as fan assisted and only 6 months old seems immediately antiquated. Obviously I want to cook a full chicken in it now, on the rotisserie but i'll await permission. Did not come with a chip basket so that's on order. Will have battered cod and chips tonight. SWMBO is gobsmacked as I appear to be kicking into chef mode these days.

That was fast ! Do you live next door to a sales emporium or something

Do you like sweet potato fries too ? We love them done in the air fryer with a light dusting of paprika about five minutes before they’re finished

I will give them a go. SWMBO is away to supermarket for a chicken so I can rotisserie tomorrow.

Between the induction hob and the airfryer I am agog at how Effortlessly they cook and for very little. We were 0.75kWh to cook fish & chips for two people. How is that even possible?

The fryer was used once and the fella didn't like it so I had it. A nice EV drive into the Highlands to collect. :)

Interesting thread.
We were using gas to cook with upto a couple of years ago, when we moved had a induction hob and separate fan oven. We have got used to it and it came in handy when they came to read the meter, I installed pv let the dno know. I thought it was their Jon to let the energy supplier know.
Old meter no back stop :D we had the meter moved to the garage so my wife quickly turned the oven on to make sure the meter was working the right way. We have a small 1 kW system.
Might have to look at the air fryer and do some comparison,
Been thinking of putting more pv on but will have to notify the supplier then, even though the meter belongs to the dno.
Just trying to look at the figures now. Even though we are home all day we use just over 2200kWh year. If we get 3500kWh from a larger pv installation only 21% would be self consumption. 50% consumption we would need 6.5kWh battery storage with the battery storage we might save £3k over 10 Years allowing 10% price increase every year. Some how I think the cost of the battery and inverter would be more than this and after 10 years you would be looking to replace. Sorry gone off thread a bit😉

You go for it Peter! This next is almost true, 'by the time a conventional oven has climbed to cooking temperature temperature, the airfryer has finished cooking'. There's only a minute exaggeration in that last line.
P.S, the more PV the better. Energy Prices are not coming down, may plateau at some point at best. The battery choice conundrum is very personal. Don't know of anyone on here who bought into batteries and regrets it? Floors open though if anyone has?

Hi billi.
As per previous induction thread, my recommendations for decent yet well priced induction capable pan, is Ikea if you are within reasonable distance of one, light, solid & good imho.
Thanks Gus , that household that i took over ... has too many pots for me anyway and half are stainless steel , that do not work on the induction hob
The other pots are enameled pots or cast iron , forged steel pans , some are very 70 th or 80 th style , but kinda funky ... so i am fine with that

The stainelsss steel collection of pots here in the kitchen , some work , others dont , they all look similar stainless , but some seem to have an other metal core in the base , so i use a magnet that i stick to the base , if it sticks then it works with the induction hob

I think i will not need an oven , nor an other hob, fueld with bottled gas for my daily cooking , if guests are here and i need more than two plates i light a BBC in parallel , does not have to be so spectacular , that lighting like last time ....
