Greetings from Mid-Wales!

Post by MW0OMZ »

Hi to all in the forum.

I found this forum after trying to find out what happened to the NaviTro forum.
I used it years ago when I did a few solar thermal installs with kit purchased from
NaviTro. it was a great community with some really helpful folk.

Now I'm back playing with my own and another solar thermal project for a mate.
Just got some P.V. on the roof here at the farm as well. It powers my radios mostly
and is a standby in the event of outages.

Any other radio hams here?

Hello Nigel.

I took my Navi thermal tubes off the roof a few weeks ago.
They were up there since very early Navi days.
Took them down because you can get leaks / pump problems / more fail safe devices needed.
Replaced with P.V. because you can use the electric for various / lots of things.
Tubes / manifolds still there if any one wants to collect them. Free of charge.

Radio wise. G3ZES

Alan

Thanks nowty, glad to be here ;)

I remember many interesting trawlings of the N4V1TRON forum.
A guy who had a heat store in the ground with a ton of pipes & old rads
as heat exchangers. Nicknamed "gravy boy" or something like that ;)

Just 3 x 255w panels up there for now and Epever MPPT + 1.5k Inverter
just to start with...

Hi Alan,

You are so right about using PV instead!
A whole lot less to go wrong ;)

I've got to tweak the solar thermal a bit as it's not
performing as expected. I'll start another conversation
about it in the suitable department.

Excellent, so there's a bit more capacity that can be added to that inverter. :D

Yes indeed. Just a 110Ah leisure battery for now.

I'll consider my work done when I have a "battery" like yours ;)

Hi MW and welcome from a Newby.
Sounds like you'll be up to all sorts of renewable projects going forward then!
We're heading over to the Graig Fatha open day on 23rd July calling in at Uskmouth PS the way then heading up to Rhayader for three days before moving on to Caer Menai for another four taking in a visit to Dinorwig Hydro while there.
My wife is really looking forward to it. ;)
Keeping fingers crossed the weather holds.

Adokforme,

You may need to rethink Dinorwig as the visitor centre is closed and it’s not clear to us locals if it’s ever going to be reopened
