Upscaling the solar generation on our property

#1

Post by JC_UK »

Hi,

We currently have a solar array and invertor, plus AC battery inverter and pylon batteries.
The solar inverter is a SMA Sunnyboy and the battery inverter is a SoFar 3kw charger.
We then have 7x 2.4kwh Pylontech batteries hanging off the SoFar charger.

The DNO will allow me to install up to 10kW total, so 3.32kW more generation, but export must be limited to 7kW maximum.

Any recommendations on the kit required to fulfil the above, i.e. additional 3.32KW max:
- solar inverter
- solar panels and number of

Many thanks

I think if you can supply a litle more detail on what you have and what you are trying to achieve it will make for much clearer and more accurate answers.
What pv panels do you currently have model and number?
What model of Sunnyboy do you have?
What model of Sofar inverter do you have?
Are all the panels connected to the sunny boy, or are they split between the 2 inverters?
The DNO typically is not that worried about how much the pnales produce, but rather how much the inverters can export (particularly under fault conditions). When they said 10KW max but 7KW export did they mention g98/g99/g100?
What are you aiming for with the extra PV? Just adding another inverter and panels may not make much sense if it all just gets exported as the payment for exported power is minimal.
Do you have an EV for example, or a PV diverer like an Eddi?
