A family with two EVs (one big, one small) could have 100 kW potential battery capacity
When my Tesla arrives, we will have a combined usable lithium battery capacity of over 155 kWh. :o

Plus another 30kWh of heat storage.

So, do you agree with me not to buy lots of batteries now?
And they are not compostable!

You do realise that a bi-directional wall charger will be another G99 application to the DNO don't you ?

And apart from the Nissan Leaf using CHADeMO I know of no others which support VTG, timescales of 2025 are being touted for CCS.

The Quaser Wallbox (image in my last post) says they have CCS, but their help line says next year.

DNO today gave me a budget of approx. £1500 to bring 3-phase to the front wall of the house - very reasonable.

Will the LPX5K manage the system in a safe and optimal way, or is something else needed for that?

The Wallbox may well be soon CCS capable, but there are currently no vehicles which will work with it, and maybe not for several more years to come. The first will probably be Nissan as they already do VTG with CHAMeDO but they are ditching CHAMeDO in favour of CCS as no one else uses it.

As you want loads of PV to get to net zero carbon, with a full electrical house, with electrical vehicles and you have a cheap option of a 3 phase supply connection, surely its a no brainer to have it and it will make your life much easier and give you more flexible options.

VW have said that the next model of iD4 will be V2G compatible. I’ve taken that as confirmation that my one (coming December (hopefully)) won’t be V2G compatible.

I don’t understand why any CCS vehicle cannot support V2G because they can expose the battery terminals surely it is up to the external “charger” which direction the current flows?

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)

PylonTech US2000 B Plus V2 95% D.O.D 2.4kWh Li-Ion Solar Battery, or the C series?

I'll go for three, for now, to get started and provide a structure for bidirectional charging.)
Any of those will do the trick! US2000/3000 B or C.

The 2000 are 25kg each which is heavy. Whereas the 3000 are 32kg each which is HEAVY. Is that a consideration?

The B have 90% usable capacity vs 95% for the C, but the cost per usable kWh is usually better on the B. The C can have 16 batteries in a stack vs 8 for the B, but you can buy a device that combines 4x stacks into a single stack.

Basically there is no “bad” choice, swings and roundabouts, they all do the same thing.

3x is a good starting place to get a working system up and running, just make sure you plan your installation so you have space/cable length for lots more!

I will meet on Thursday evening with KIA touring UK with the new EV6, which has bi-directional charging. Let me know if you want to raise a question. I can report on Friday.

From what I can find its only got a vehicle to load function, i.e. there is an onboard AC inverter (not grid tied) so there is a 13amp 240v 3 pin standard socket on it for plugging domestic electrical devices into it.

I don't see any bi-directional DC VTG charging function.

"But in true 2021 fashion, the EV6 goes both ways, with vehicle to load (VTL) charging that turns the crossover into a mobile electrical source with up to 1900W of power. It can even do vehicle-to-vehicle charging, though at an almost pointless 1.1 kW rate or roughly the equivalent of charging off of a 110-volt outlet. We’ve heard that the company went with VTL instead of the more common VTG (Grid) because the software capabilities required off-grid connectivity weren’t yet available. We’re told you can expect the EV6 to power anything a 2kW generator can power, and the specs sheet says it can do so for 36 hours."
