Lentils (green) have now become an absolute mainstay in our home.

100g per man sized serving.
400 ml water or less (340ml is my ideal for a former bite),
Throw a stock cubes in for favouring & that bit of flavour
9 minutes timer on manual for the 6.5 litre instantpot

Quick pressure release, done.

Bearing in mind it's a hardy drought resistant plant in happy to devour this as part of my meat intake reduction, just like mackerel to me it's an interesting anytime satisfying dish that is sadly too stuck (reputationally) in the hippy type past.

Can see myself eating this as a main meal (scoop & run) 3+ times per week. (This week 1x breakfast, 1x supper) especially as a low energy cook winter dish.
So, yes whilst I did teach the nipper how to cobble together a chicken fried rice in the wok last night, this summers heat has had us all typically roasting a chicken a week & eating it in wraps with pea salad or just spinach leaves, our meat intake has likely dropped to an all time low without anyone feeling hard done by.

Think a bowl of lentils is a step too far for the wife though (currently) ...no chocolate coated variety available.

Nb, I will get more adventurous with some recipes, however I'm a bit fan of simple & hearty, ..it really works for me, having only recently been won over by them, just like I'll happily eat a fistful of brined herring for breakfast given a bucket of them.

Again my mind is turning to thoughts of a shake of "hendo's" on green lentils as a baked bean alternative on a fry up, will have to try it.

Doing mung beans (one of the names name of our old ginger tom) ..easier to locate locally & "allegedly" similar in taste & texture.

Last night I had green lentils (w/stock cube) & crispy baked spud, part of my reduce meat without remorse endeavour, ...zero farting despite going back for more lentils later!I
Did the lentils 1 minute less in the I standpoint for salad potential, nice!

Hoping the mung beans work as well.

Anyone looking for a deal on the energy saving instantpots!? ..latest prices I've found are good (limited stock & time offer)

Nb, amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OP26T4K/ref=twister_B0B8NGJPW3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 (comfortably holds a slightly sub 2kg chicken) £56.99 for a few days in the sale, (the duo 5.6L)

Or, slightly more recent model, (same page) Duo Nova for £59.99 currently, potential additional £5 off both these IF you do a £60 "top up" to your Amazon account (use it to buy it) ..this is the size we are sending kiddo to halls with & why we recently splashed out on the air fryer version, even though it's akin to a fella wearing a top hat compared to a regular instantpot.I

Ps, ran into a woman charging her hybrid in Aldi car park, she's been sold it without a charger (can see why) ..& Insisted a granny plug didn't come with it either (big Peugeot suv) ..when I mentioned cheap 3 pin plug granny chargers on ebay, she asked me "what's a 3 pin plug" !? ..yet she holds a driving license her lack of basic lobservational skills should mark her down as unsuitable for driving maybe!?

Advertising works, clearly, she reckons she's been driving it for 7 months without filling up not charging till now. ..hmm that great big car just be doing a mere mile per day each way methinks.

You not worried that she was clueless as to the existence of the 3 pin wall plug joe!? not like they are a newfangled device, she had no indication of a possibly Nottingham *luddite* accent. 😂

I'll be honest and for the moment go with no. No pedantry meant but I don't know what she knows and vice versa. I may assume she knows what I know but I'll be proved wrong instantly. Assuming I know what she knows would be the grossest level of arrogance so best to assume she helps me by talking to me. Works for me. :D

She was expecting a free car charger of the pod point variety for a Peugeot 3008, installed at home
she also failed to note the 90 minute Aldi parking limit & will be receiving a parking eye fine of around £75 for dumping her car there for hours to charge (it was there when we drew up, & we were at the store for 70 mins, +7 spent queuing for / through the till)

I understand charging for free is appealing, even to a hybrid small battery owner (it's propulsion after all) but driving a great big Volvo estate diesel to get picked up & dropped off whilst your phev battery is charging at a supermarket when you live several miles away is questionable as to what you are achieving at the end of the day if one does some fag packet maths.
