No heating on in our house until November. No matter the weather!

I used to be like that then I kind of slumped into a happier mental place.

That shows the North/South divide! Aircon has been on all day here, reached around 25°C outside, sitting at around 21° indoors. Definitely not time to put any heating on yet! We usually turn the heating on around mid-November, with it going on all the time from around December through to February.

Sadly I can't speak to you again.

Whilst the celotex hay box is a classic but with a modern twist, I would be wary of non sealed (alu-tape) particulate from any insulation foam board.
Yes it adds cost, but adds durability & a measure of safety, if done on the cheap 151brand in pound type stores for enough to deal that up.

Yes I am sure you are right and I shall do as you suggest.

I am generally wary of causing more plastic waste and when I hollowed it out with a sharp spoon over the dustbin I did note how difficult it was to avoid some blowing away, also there was electrostatic attraction to deal with too.

My preferred insulation is rockwool batts but you do need twice the thickness. I plan to add some to the rafters and fix multifoil over that but I do need to allow some internal circulation behind because this old roof is unvented.

I've done plenty of wee jobs with the 151 brand tape, screwfix is often cheap too, the crumbs I tend to bag for it I need to build an area up when "jigsaw puzzle making" pieces fit from.skip diving.

I love the haybox idea & it's an area we went deep diving into at t'other place.

It would be helpful If there were a few alu-tape covered insulation inner pot moulds for the instant pot range, would really help knock energy back further, the sous vide wand manufacturers like to flog you big clear plastic troughs for lots of cash instead, I just want an extension of energy efficiency & less heat cycles per cook, ..The water I change once per week, less if eggs haven't cracked the shells when cooking low & slow.

I am just going to have to bite the bullet & sacrifice some decent offcuts to make it round & less body than my mk1 insulation cosy.

Well, tomorrow is induction hob day! With fortune on my side we will be properly gas free and SWMBO can have the joy of NOT just two induction rings to cook. Going to keep the two ring mobile unit too so we will be a six induction ring potential cook at Christmas.

If it's as good as ours, which is made in Germany and begins with the letter B then reckon Swmbo will be delighted. Not only with it's operation, but cleaning is just so easy compared to the old gas rings, grills etc. We certainly wouldn't go back to a gas one now.

Also found a HUGE hole leading to the crawlspace. Cut and siliconed a board in place The task of insulation never ends!
