how long does a mastervolt work for ? 10years and not one more day !

I have a mastervolt inverter xs 4300 sw that has worked every day for 10 years then suddenly the lcd screen has gone blank so looking at replacing the brick !

Its out of warranty ... so is there a better brand to get ?

I presume you have FIRST contacted Mastervolt to check the cost of repair rather than "dumping" what has worked flawlessly for you thus far?

Admittedly in 10 years there have been changes & the lifespan is finite (they work hard) but nonetheless if spares are cheap & viable, saves lugging a heavy unit to recycling / tearing it down yourself for scrap value.

Not had a great deal of luck contacting mastervolt ... phoned head office but didnt really get much help....

Are these repairable ?

Toss up between repair (its still a 10year old box) and shiny new one with better tech and a lifetime ahead of it

nah the screen isnt the problem .... its not functioning at all and the export meter hasnt moved since it stopped spinning up

10 years was the expected lifespan of an inverter back when yours was installed. It is a shame yours didn’t blow at 4.5 years when you could have gotten a free replacement, or gone on for 15-20 years. But hey ho, that’s life you’re in the middle of the bell curve with the majority.

It is worth checking it isn’t something easy to repair such as a blown capacitor, or even a “non maintainable” fuse. But I wouldn’t sweat too much if you have to buy a new inverter.
