I've only bought enough for the max 120%, subject to a margin of error and before more recent energy efficiency savings. ;)

The drawdown on the VB has started.

I consider that anyone who over bought into WT2, without good cause, now have a good excuse with trying to save energy/expense by using either less electricity at home, using/charging at home their EV less or delaying installing a heat pump pending further information on their performance, reliability, economical or environmental benefit.

Seeing 120kWh+ coming in over the last few days has been an astonishing turnaround. We were at 3.5% in the VB which I considered quite good as we tend to fall off a cliff mid Sept for PV. Essentially in the poor WT months and waning PV months there is just enough of each to keep us RE friendly.

I am very happy with that as it (underperforming PV & WT) has allowed us to leave the gas off completely when it would normally be in action by now. SWMBO said the other day that she will be cancelling the monthly dd on the boiler maintenance contract in January. :ugeek:
I am looking forward to seeing Winter play out and what WT1 will bring, a lot I think! P.S peak VB for us was 8.5%, should be up from that by the time we get 🏡.

Octopus is trying to tempt me to turn the gas central heating on today.

Nice try, but I reckon its still cheaper using my Heat Pumps running on the batteries.

Maybe I found the reason why the Octopus is trying to temp me as I thought it was strange for such a low price on a light wind day.

The old adage "follow the money" never ceases to apply!

Curious thing is that it seems that we've been offloading LNG from ships, converting it back into pressurised gas and then moving it by pipelines from the big terminals, like Milford Haven, across the UK and then to Ireland and the European mainland. The apparent lack of re-gasification capacity around mainland Europe seems to be the bottleneck, and gas prices are such that it makes economic sense for LNG ships to dock in the UK and then tranship the gas via pipelines and sell it elsewhere.

I can't help wondering what UK gas prices would be if we stopped doing this and made more gas available for UK consumers. I would guess that the lack of storage capacity would pose a problem, but in theory UK gas prices should reduce if supply exceeds demand.

Even cheaper than me, mine is 3.79p / kWh.

Blowing like hell in the UK tomorrow, just how low will it go.
