I suppose the question to ask is, how much potential power to the sunny side of a tower block & work back from there.

from balcony through a chink in a fitted upvc frame to a USB hub (or whatever) eay to maintain (clean, unless elf & safety wish to make life tough along with the daily fail) also offer a degree of balcony privacy to some block designs.

The drop from 2 billion to 1.3 billion persons without power shows solar works well without heavy infrastructure installation.

You'd have a normally closed relay as first in line. If incoming power wasn't there it would be shut and nothing would flow?

There is something strongly appealing about a mobile array that can be plugged in and generating in seconds. Multiple use scenarios.

I am deliberately not reading those links (yet) as once I do I'll be off for paper and pencil and alibaba!

800W is not be sniffed at especially if you are already running a low power life.

It makes me wonder whether you could have a lot more panels than 800Wp as long as the micro inverter limited output to 800W. This would help to get a more useful amount of power in the winter months.

Reading the original link, it indicates that this approach (plug and play) is supported and promoted in Germany.

If it works for them, why is it something we can’t use in the UK ?
