Fingers crossed pal, fair to say you deserve it after that .Stinsy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 8:46 pm Just to update you all: the iD4 is scheduled to be built Week 46. Which is roughly a year after it was originally supposed to be built. There have been a number of build weeks promised and missed so I’m trying not to get my hopes up but VW are insisting I’ll have it before Xmas.
They said that about last Xmas!

But they haven't said which Xmas, I thought a previous message of mine was a touch of an exaggeration, maybe not.

Oh dear.... 40% software issues. Did Stinsy ever get his car?
Personally I would walk away (a year ago).

Re: iD4
And to link into an older thread with specific concerns about batts from LG Chem for many makes and models of BEV's, it seems VW has made a partial recall of some iD3's and iD4's for battery issues, with speculation leaning towards LG again.
The software issues for 3, 4 and 5's seem to be escalating. I think Alex (in that vid) has had enough, add in the fact that VW have pulled his press permissions after criticising the look of the VW Buzz, despite him operating the largest US iD4 owners group (12k members), does not bode well.
Messy times.

Re: iD4
My iD4 has not yet arrived!
The software issues suffered by VW BEVs are well-documented. However I know people with Polestar and Tesla BEVs who moan about their software too. VW are currently rolling out new versions of the software that have been delayed by the new software requiring a bigger 12V battery (12V battery problems also seem almost universal amongst BEVs!).
Dealer seems confident I'll get it before xmas. However they said that last xmas...

Re: iD4
I got the software update and new 12v battery in August. To be honest, I have not noticed much difference with the software.
I have a few gripes with the software. If I set the cruise control at 60mph on a motorway and there is a 50mph limit, it will reduce the speed to 50mph. However when the limit increase to 70mph, the cruise control will increase the speed to 70mph, ignoring my previous setting of 60mph. I have got used to this happening and it is no big issue for me. Also, sometimes it does not recognise end of speed restrictions and keeps the speed at the restricted amount. Once, it recognised the 10mph limit in the works lane as the speed limit, but I was not using cruise control at the time.
Other than that minor niggle, I am still pleased wit the car.

Re: iD4
Software seems to cause problems for pretty much all makes of new car now. A friend has a Tesla Model 3 and is getting rid of it when his lease is up as he's just fed up with things being changed, his words to me were that he'd bought the car on the basis of a test drive and now the car had changed significantly since then, and not always for the better, and he's just a bit fed up with having to adapt to the way the car gets changed with updates.
Not sure how valid that is, but I can understand his annoyance at having stuff change for no good reason. I detest having to bugger about once or twice a year when Firefox updates and disables the features that I'm used to and want to see stay, like the position of the tabs on the screen. Not fun having to spend an hour or so faffing around to bodge a css file to get the interface to look and feel as it did before the update.
Quite why so many people seem prepared to accept flaky software is beyond me. I've given up complaining about the stuff that falls over with our car on a regular basis, as the manufacturer frankly doesn't give a damn. It does seem as if very little proper testing is carried out with car software before updates are rolled out. It has made me wonder if car manufacturers employ a bunch of kids to develop software and then never bother to do any testing before they roll it out. I remember the amount of resources put in to testing code when I was still working, and it was more time consuming that the development of the code. Perhaps that's the problem, there are big cost savings to be had by not testing code.

The cars security still sucks @rse, now have damage taken to the door from some a-hole, no notification, no video, no good.
& yeah, tesla do move a lot of kit about on that screen.

Re: iD4
I'm gonna be a complete whatever here and say that I am very happy with the software in the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The only thing I don't like but used to now is default lane assist setting is to on. Just a part of my start up procedure to push and hold the button to turn it off then choose radio or tunes.
It's great for motorways as is the cruise control and radar but not so much for my local B roads. Just coming up to its 1st 10,000 miles yearly service. 5* Car.
A very nice car that gets the job done effortlessly
