Has anyone kept warm in a Japanese kotatsu?

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Apparently the Japanese used to put hot stones in the pit.

I think that I will hang a curtain around the table where I spend a lot of time on the ipad or reading, with the infra-red lamp of course.

back in 2003, I walked the Annapurna circuit in Nepal. As we reached higher elevations and the lodges became colder, a blanket was thrown over the dining tables and buckets of hot coals put under the table. We all sat around the table in the evening eating dinner and then chatting. The table kept us surprisingly warm until we went off to our rooms to sleep.
