Self advertising and sigs

#1

Post by Joeboy »

Hi guys,
As you may know, the site was set up with the hope of needing very little mod input or steerage (self regulating). The other aspect was that we are purely knowledge based with no self advertising/promotion regardless of its innocence.

There are many members who do not have access to Octopus or Ripple accounts so are in this regard at a disadvantage to those that do.

There are a couple/few sigs with links to their Octopus/Ripple accounts. I would very much appreciate if members who are carrying these links in their sigs would remove them voluntarily. I have requested a post in the announcement section for this but it might take a day or two. Your help in this is much appreciated.
Cheers
Joe

Well said, and I wholeheartedly agree with this policy. Perhaps this needs to be made clearer to new members?

I joined an EV forum a few years ago, but stopped posting there in large part because the place was just infested with people trying to earn money from their posts with links to anything and everything, from discount codes, through links to their own businesses, the the endless flood of very annoying Octopus and Tesla promotional links. It got to the point there where if anyone posted content that was vaguely related to something others could make money from then someone would post offering their money-making link. Very annoying after a while, as it both diluted the ratio of useful content to spam and also meant that the content from lots of members had to be assumed to be biased and potentially unreliable, because of their commercial connections.

If it saved someone else cash & didnt earn anyone else anything that would still have been alright by me, because it gives a leg up, & i'd have been just as chuffed about that.

I did mention a while ago a links page for sites many here find useful, ..its a good brain moment when I can remember "templar" (grid watch) & thought a list of old trusted sites useful for new arrivals.. (& goldfish like me)

If there was a collective page of rotating, anonymous sig link codes, that helped folk in ripple type opportunities then great as well, missing out is all well & good if you can afford to, ..I still pick up coinage off the street..

If someone wants to address an alt scheme for ripple or similar where you can donate any sig kickback to your chosen registered charity instead of taking it yourself or as watts for them (my preference) or similar then, ..please go for it, i'm sure ripple & can do better if set to task.

Watts banking ..a gift that keeps giving 👍

Hello,

I make software that automatically removes refferal links and other sponsorship stuff from forums.

Simply visit:

This link

And we will both get £50 worth of refferal blocking refferal credit.
