The temptation is there but I can just hook up if on site and if wild I'll make sure it's long run and point the Bongo in a good direction then pop the roof up to get decent PV. I don't fancy a £600 splurge on this vans LB...

I reckon a £75 replacement 110Ah LB LA is in the cards. I'll give it a couple of days then test the original.

Just pinch four of the ones sitting on your garage wall when you go away

I seriously reckon 4 x lf280k would outlast 10 110Ah (55Ah useable LA batteries).
It makes sense but I've promised myself to ease back financially. A few Bob into Project 3 and that's me for a while. Well, on RE stuff anyway. I will continue with insulation and sealing when found but I think we've kind of got it down now on energy generation & storage. If I go beyond where I am now it would be because I could not because it would improve our lives. Sadly that includes the Bongo... :D

The battery our neighbours bought was a direct replacement for their existing one, made by these people: https://freedomlithium.com/shop-lithium ... -for-sale/

Ten year warranty, a lot more expensive for sure, but no faffing about, just plonk it in and go.
25 off 250W Perlight solar panels, installed 2014, with a 6kW PowerOne inverter, about 6,000kWh/year generated

Well, that's day 3 or maybe 4 and the charge rate remains the same. According to the 240V inline meter we have sent 14.4Ah of power to the LB at a pretty consistent 32W. Voltage isn't increasing on the unit, no heat on the battery case itself and steady as she goes. I could I guess have an internal short but I'd have expected to feel some heat.

I'll leave it for another week or so and see how it goes.

LB has been disconnected and sat through the polar blast. Has dropped from 12.93v to 12.91v in that time (about a week). I'll do a capacity test using the Bongo diesel heater as a load for an hour and see how much we have left.
