Growing ginger in the uk.

I bought a set of growing LED lights a few years back but never got round to using them.

Another 2 weeks on, 3 weeks since buying from supermarket.

This has still been kept in the high humidity lunch box out of the way on top of a kitchen cupboard.

Another 2 weeks on, 5 weeks since buying from supermarket.

That's a fair difference in the largest shoot in 2 weeks.

presumably it will need to go into some damp compost to supply moisture and nutrients before too long now?

Soon, but they will be done one by one as each bud is big enough.

Unfortunately my pot planted ginger plants did not live long , so it was back to the drawing board and this time I have left them in a watery tub to grow more substantial roots first. I also added a lot more water to the tub.

I am hoping for better this time.

Note - This is still the same piece of ginger that went in the watery tub at the end of October 2022.

Time to plant out I think.
I reckon at least a month too late but I'll get the timing better next year if it works out.
