Ok itemised electrical appliances "cost to run for 1 hour" piece

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Whilst I now have clear context as to your original post, the guy in the article appears to have wandered around his own domecile for 8 weeks with a bog standard plug in energy monitor, which is how many home users will get somewhere near an inkling as to individual energy useage.

"To cut through the fug and find out myself, I grabbed a power meter and spent the last two months testing everything I could."

Shame he didnt provide detail of his tariff, provider otherwise its better than copy & paste passaround pieces.

I had a 12 year old dell monitor that had silently failed and was using 400W in standby. It is often not economical to hold onto old goods, especially old fridges and freezers.
Must have kept the room warm though.

I'm a little surprised you couldn't see smoke! I used to have a 1970's 26" colour tv with valves for the power stages - that only managed to pull 300w (when on of course - it didn't do standby).
450W hydro-electric
5110W pv
1.3kw Wt2 - not yet producing
6kWh lead acid - maybe 1kwh useable
LiMnCo battery made from 2nd hand hybrid car modules 3.6kwh nominal 24v.
300lt hot water tank and two storage heaters
