Also why the coal fired 900MW?
Torness Reactor 2 offload refuelling, will be back around 18th Jan.
Heysham 1 Reactor 1 has a boiler tube leak and is on reduced load.
Heysham 2 Reactor 8 (dont ask me why its "8" as there are only 2) is on reduced load to conserve fuel until next refuelling.

Coal ?, feck knows, maybe need to use the fuel stocks, its also going to be colder in a few days or maybe need the spinning reserve.

This site, at the bottom, has already recognised a new record of over 21GW.

Coals on because it's cheap.

Over 50% wind and it's still £200 a MWh :D

The wholesale price is bizarrely digital. To an extent it seems to flip between £200/MWh and £0/MWh

Its not easy to come up with a single figure, for site like this I'm surprised they don't just use the nordpool hourly, would be close enough but saying that I can see why that would also be confusing.

I prefer to look at the day ahead and year ahead price.

But today the difference between the year ahead price in just one day is insane, it has collapsed.

That suggests to me that Europe will not run out of gas this winter and the year 2 price achieved for WT1 (circa £290 a MWh) was a belter.

It's been unusually mild and quite a few countries have shrunk industry consumption somewhat, take that as you will.

Germany in particular heavy industries feeling a crunch.

The source of the issue; IMO which is an unusual (misguided) confidence in existing aging generation has not quite been solved. Can kicking won't work with these issues...

Let's just say the "check engine light" came on, but now that it's gone off by itself everyone is not concerned anymore.

The point I'm making here is the "year ahead" price has collapsed and not the day ahead price just because its mild and windy.

Not below £150 though is it? It's not good. Certainly can't be having £800 spot pricing either.

Imagine you are running something actually energy intensive.

Not to be a party pooper but it's literally the foundation of human civilization.

I would have though most folk would be relatively happy at £150 / MWh.

Look at prices 1 year ahead, 2 year ahead, 3 year ahead, they have all synchronised back to almost the same price before Russia invaded Ukraine.
