temporary removal of panels

#1

Post by Sunrisemike »

Sprung a leak in the roof, maybe aggravated by the panel rails screwed through the slate, but regardless, the membrane is iffy. The roofer says he's ok to remove them and stack them on the scaffolding, but I think I will disconnect them myself. What's the best way of protecting the connectors? A smear of silicone grease and a bit of tape to keep the dirt out? They've been up 11 years now and generated a load of power!
Thanks for any advise,

Mike

Can do, we used to use molykote 111 on subsea connectors. If you've got it to hand why not? Also try to position cables so gravity works for you and water flows away from the connector. (S)

I tend to just plug the plug into the socket on the panel but make sure they are not facing the light. For any others I have some plugs and sockets that have a small plastic rod in where the cable would enter..
