Nice to see one of our very own esteemed members in that article
Shame it's a bit of a fluff article but anything that raises heat pump awareness can't be bad.
I'm disappointed "Moxi" didn't refer to himself as per decade+ long forum name.

I'd insist the bbc called me farquhar complete with proper scottish pronounciation (not that elongated english theatre / bbc stuff) to ensure maxumum banana peel slippage potential.
Kept that one quiet Moxi.

1.5m, have I been getting it wrong from memory? ..& are they measuring from the back edge or the front! fascia.
This is yet another reason my plans have stalled. In Wales the rule is 'within 3m' of a boundary. With my property (semi-detached) being 7m wide, then a PP is required since units are around 1.5m across. For terraced properties, and possibly even new build detached, which have front parking (not side) and small side areas, again PP is required.
Seems like a stupid rule in Wales. And I'm probbaly pushing my luck with second A2A unit being about 30cm from the boundary, and in front of the house. But planning dept when I asked about the 'air con unit' (don't say heatpump), asked if it would make a significant difference to the appearance of our property ......... well, if I'm allowed to answer that, then it's a no. [But don't tell anyone ]
8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

...and you cannot use one of those chimney mimic ones either by the looks of it. Are ducted ones that sit in the loft space available?
Also looks like multi splits get around the one per house limit, what are their drawbacks?
Much as I would like to join your happy throng I shall have to address heat loss a bit better and for now I am able to chop logs, spent the last two (part) days replenishing the bay I had used up to Xmas.

Luckily Marts other small unit is round the back & nigh on invisible, presumably thought should be given to google maps "prying potential" when going geurrila, . .that & having good neighbours & hiding it long enough for council planning spods to ngad due to "no complaints ever" ..gaming the system from the project planning stage is necessary based on uk housing stock shoe-horning.
Ah, sorry moxi, thought caesium was inferring it was you!? ...i'm confuzzlled now! *can o worms*
