Soz, nearer 2.5K
Weather better, but we’re still getting the cold North/North Easterly winds that have affected Europe.
There again, still 21C, looking to 23C later this week. Beer and vino Blanco cold, so all good

Outstanding, enjoy every moment. We're heading back to Turkey for hopefully last ops for No1 son mid Feb. A quick 10 day jaunt this time.Bugtownboy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 7:46 pm Soz, nearer 2.5K

Jealous, very jealous, SWMBO is already complaining about the weather back home after our tour of the Canaries.
But I still cannot understand why or why do they not install a bit more solar and wind there, surely compared with the UK its a no brainer.
But every time I look at the CO2 generating map, the only place worse in Europe is Poland.

I don’t understand either - there have been some new WT installed recently (I’ll get pics if we get it that way) but there’s very little PV.
A lot of domestic solar thermal stuff, and an increasing, albeit still small, amount of domestic PV (a few Brits providing installs).
In my assessment ( ), I don’t understand why they’re not virtually self sufficient given the amount of sun and virtually permanent wind.
Whether there’s some political or structural reason to not maximise the potential, don’t know. Considering Lanza makes the most of its Biosfera status (don’t fully understand this), I thought renewables would be pushed far more.
Anyhoo, ‘it’s nice to have some early year sun - we like to shorten the winter by a couple of months, but get back to start the growing season at home.

Re: Off adventuring!
From my limited understanding, it’s expats installing to expats - I’ll try and do a bit more fact finding.

Turkish / Syrian earthquake death toll now 3000+ less than 24hrs into the event.
Makes you think more about placing a bug out barrel out of the way of collapsing buildings & a stash of water & protein bars within.
How does the power / water & general services strain affect your wifes thinking about your renewables "tweaks" out there now @joeboy !? ..miles away from it though you may be.

Make that fizzy water... still water is terrible for allowing bugs to grow.Mr Gus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:25 pm Turkish / Syrian earthquake death toll now 3000+ less than 24hrs into the event.

It's a hard go right enough, we have pals who Winter out in Eastern Turkey (home farms) and all are OK so far, inshallah.Mr Gus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:25 pm Turkish / Syrian earthquake death toll now 3000+ less than 24hrs into the event.

No 1 & I head out a week tomorrow for just under a fortnight SWMBO is right onside with the resources at the house. Its not so much really,
30 kgs propane
40 ltrs bottled water
200 ltrs village water (drinkable with high calcium count)
Three powerbanks
1 mobile WiFi hotspot
Two weeks dry goods
5V lights etc
Well stocked first aid box
Soon to be solar panel onsite.
The above if we stop showering would keep us in the game for a fortnight. If push came to shove 1 month time of year depending. Outside of that I'm looking for a boat and Southerly bearing towards Rhodes.
I never really viewed myself as any type of Prepper but my work and life experience has taught me to look out for oneself and scan the horizons for bandits. Help people out when I can too, right up until I have to kill and eat them.
Edit- silver keeps water fresh.

Might want to take some head torches out to donate joe, they will be like gold dust currently.
As will modern tarp clip tensioners for people wary of sleeping outdoors due to aftershocks, despite winter & snow on the ground.
I've been looking at the trenches & dug outs of Ukraine forces & thinking how useful the battery fan assisted secondary burn smokeless woodstoves could be for not giving away positions with smoke plumes, ditto this sort of environmental scenario.
