Watch this video. It should apply to your inverter and is exactly how mine works. He shows you exactly what to do.

You dont want optimal income on you need that set that to stop - that changes the algorithm to allow export to Grid

see pages 87 and 88 of your manual:

Mode 1: Self-Use Mode Logic(Maximize the usage of PV)
PV Power Using Priority: Load>Battery>Grid
Load Support Priority: PV>Battery>Grid
Battery Charging Power comes from PV. (If “Charging From Grid” is allowed, it can also
come from Grid)
If “Time of Use” is “Run”, the logic will follow the charging/discharging settings and time
settings as defined in “Time of Use”. For those undefined period of time, it will still follow
the Self-Use logic.
Time of use for Self use
Path: Advanced Settings->Storage Energy Set->Storage Mode Select->
Self-Use Mode->ON->Time of use for Self use

To get to the times you need to use the up and down navigation keys and Next to enter and esc to exit its not very intuitive but you have to take your time and work slowly through the sub menus to ensure you press the right keys at the right tome as its not forgiving of errors and normally throws you all the way out always look at the bottom of the screen for extra command prompts that turn up as you progress through - these will help you to determine if there are further sub routines or menus to access.

Hi Moxi, Thanks for this. I've been following those steps, but can't move past Mode: Self use ON. When I press enter to confirm ON it says 'Done!" then goes straight back to Mode: Self use. Using the up/down buttons cycles through 'Feed in priority, 'Off grid' 'Backup' then back to 'Self use'.

In my manual (Solis S5-EH1P-L Hybrid Inverter Instruction Manual Ver 1.2) pages 87 - 88 contains a list of specs. I can't find online a more up-to-date version. I'll keep fiddling, Cheers.

Page 67 & 68 of the V1.2 manual describe how it should work. If you are saying when you select Self Use and ON it jumps back then there is something wrong. I would suggest contacting Solis Support via their website - raise a ticket here:

Do you have a WiFi "stick" plugged in for remote monitoring. If you have and it is registered with them they can do a remote update.

Got there, thank you. The video helped. I've set it to Self use - set charge times and set Charging from Grid to 'not allow'. All the solar today has charged the battery to 100% so I hope this evening it'll use the energy from the battery. I'll let you know how it goes, even though the battery is fully charged I can't see it going back to the grid, to hopefully mission accomplished.

Sometime they get back quite quickly (in 24 hours) other times they don't so call them.

Thanks Marksman, I was having a blond moment earlier! Watching the video sorted me out. I don't have a Wi-Fi dongle attached, the installer was trying to get me to buy one but wasn't sure it was worth the extra >£50, maybe it is!

Sounds promising!

Re: the WiFi dongle, not really necessary unless you want to be able to remotely monitor what is going on and, if you get the latest version of dongle, you can remotely set charge times from the Solis app. Up to you. I would see how it goes without, yo can always get one later if you feel you need one.
