EG4 Chargeverter: 48v/100A (5kW!) charger

I'm eyeing up a new product thats been released, looks mostly USA-based but the specs say it'll work at 240v and 50Hz. And they're pretty reasonably priced I think.

This is a pretty beefy charger and I'm likely to need one soon when my 5 hour charging window closes (rip Go Faster), so I'm considering seeing about importing one. Would there be any interest in a group buy? Anyone else in need of some substantial charging current?

Also anyone spot any potential problems? Obviously it will need a dedicated circuit from a consumer unit with a 32A MCB probably, can't just plug this in

The brand I believe is "ok", not Victron quality but a damn sight better than any "100A" charger tat that I might find on aliexpress.

For something from the US it looks suspiciously as though it has originated somewhere else imho. Al the dimensions are round cm figures, the wiring shown conforms to European colours (Brown, Blue and Green/Yellow) and no mention anywhere that I could see of country of maurfacture which is really unusual if it was made in the US.

Might be a very good buy, especially if made for the European market initially.

I use Eltek HE flatpacks. Cheap, powerful, controllable with Arduino and small.

As a supplementary battery charger I use a second hand Sofar ME3000SP battery inverter which I use in forced charge mode, using a WiFi socket to turn it on or off.

I've seen the Eltek Flatpacks mentioned before. Are you controlling them via CANBUS Tinbum? With the usual transceiver board that everyone seems to use, forget the model number now.

I see a couple on ebay for around £80, this might be a more sensible starting point.. just one would do for now to supplement my inverters 60A charge.

Thanks - I've picked up a 48/3000 Eltek to have a play with, £99.

It looks like some sort of mating connector on the back, presumably to slide into whatever you're supposed to use these on. I guess remove that to get at the terminals inside and work out where mains/dc/canbus goes. Might be back with questions in a few days

Yes, Two sided pcb's. I do have some available, it was easier to get a good batch made.
