A friend has just abandoned his wait for a MG4 after 15 months or so, cancelled the deal and bought a cheap ICE car. The dealer wouldn't commit to it ever being supplied to him, kept stringing him along "When a shipful gets sent we'll know, but (after 8 weeks) we shall still have no idea whether any of them will actually be allocated to us so we can let you have one."

A friend and neighbour popped round on Wed to say he finally got his MG4, having waited quite a while, but when he picked it up he noticed it was the same colour and spec of the showroom model, which has suddenly disappeared. Only ~40 miles on it, so he's not too concerned, but frustrated at the wait if it is the one that's been there for a while.

Owners seem to be reporting good stuff for the MG4, good VFM.

Looks like the ID4 is now roughly price comparable to the TMY following price cuts, if you spec the ID4 up a bit. Looking like a BEV price war is coming.

BTW TM3 prices now very similar to ID3 prices, especially with the inventory models being about £2k less. I assume these inventory vehicles just arriving, or soon at Tesla showrooms, is a result of the recent ship deliveries, which now bring in extras (not pre-booked).



ID3 standard range 260-264 miles is £39.5k to £42.5k depending on trim, with the SR TM3 at £43k and 305 miles. Longer range ID3 (339 miles) cost £47.5k, with the LR TM3 (374 miles) at £51k. New delivery inventory SR TM3's are available at £40.5k, LR at £48k.

ID4 standard range 220-223 miles is £39k to £44k depending on trim, with the SR TMY at £45k and 283 miles. Longer range ID4 (308-324 miles) cost £44-£53k, withe the LR TMY (331 miles) at £53k.

Few cars come with a spare these days. The 3-series I had 20 years ago didn't have one, my Golf doesn't have one, I haven;t checked but I'd be astonished if the iD4 had one...

The MG4 offers a great price point. I’ve heard of quality issues though.

TMY doesn’t float my boat. Bit spartan for me and I’m not a Tesla fan generally. Although the quality has improved now they’re not made in America.

My suspicion is that they under-priced it, so every old contract that they honour makes a(n ever-increasing) loss. Better to lose those potential customers and the goodwill, walk away (write them off for the future) and try to make a profit on new orders at new prices.

Can't bring myself to consider another VW product, and have had stacks in the past.
